I guess I just prefer my imagination to flesh out the details while getting the whole story detail.
Just eagerly waiting for the next book, have other TV shows to watch instead of this one.
game of thrones season 3
I have really enjoyed the adaptation. The dialogue is much tighter, and several characters have much more personality in them than in the booka.
The only real flaw is not making use of re-enactment groups to stage proper tournaments. Doing them largely without horses and as very small affairs just doesn't look right.
Dinklage and the young actress playing Arya are the stars for me

<bp|> Maybe when I grow up I can be a troll like PsycH
<bp|> or an obsessive compulsive paladin of law like Adept
Its the same in the book sadly. She really is a dumb bitch. I was talking to my brother about it and he did mention that its just a sign he is a good author, able to tap into his characters, which he really has to do since its from their perspective.Viscur wrote:QUOTE (Viscur @ Apr 1 2013, 01:12 PM) Both sansa and her handmaiden made me want someone to shove them off the pier where they stood. Just sayin.
As do I, but its nice to have something quality to watch with other people. And alcohol. Drinking and reading is kinda hardHSharp wrote:QUOTE (HSharp @ Apr 1 2013, 04:50 PM) I guess I just prefer my imagination to flesh out the details while getting the whole story detail.

I think being forced into a tighter, leaner plot is only going to be good for ASoFaI. I loved the first book and have been frustrated since then by the meandering plot and dead ends with no real resolution except the obvious one which is hamstrung by the fact that one of the protagonists is on an entirely different continent to everyone else (for the record, I haven't read the most recent book(s) so things may have picked up).
I agree that the battles and tournaments are a bit small, and you never get the impression that there's anything just off camera. It's fair enough though, even with a good sized budget you're not going to be matching Peter Jackson for battles scenes on telly. I can also totally understand not working with horses, even if the reenactors are volunteers, filming horses takes a disproportionately long time, too long to be worth it very often.

Well tbh when your drinking then almost anything becomes fun to watch. It's hilarious watching terrible zombie movies with friends while drinking, I can even watch Walking Dead happily with a blood alcohol content higher then 0.1Broodwich wrote:QUOTE (Broodwich @ Apr 2 2013, 12:32 AM) As do I, but its nice to have something quality to watch with other people. Agri would agree with you if they do it right - sadly though the temptation is always going to be that some characters might end up being reduced to stock bad / good because its easier and quicker to do that, as they did (to an extent) with Jaime last season, and looked to have done with Tywin this (which is a shame because some of the Twyin / Arya scenes last season were magnificent). Then theres also the needless killing off of some characters - Dany's handmaidens being the best example - which didnt really do anything for the plot and which has ended up making agri worry far more than he really should that Missandei will be killed off as well, giving him nothing to watch her on apart from reruns of Hollyoaks*, and that scene from Misfits.Raveen wrote:QUOTE (Raveen @ Apr 2 2013, 07:55 AM) I think being forced into a tighter, leaner plot is only going to be good for ASoFaI. Yeah, it totally kills the atmosphere. It's like they don't know how to make scenes look crowded with few people either as there are always wide angle shots, empty space behind spectators etc..Adept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ Apr 1 2013, 07:24 PM) The only real flaw is not making use of re-enactment groups to stage proper tournaments. Want bigger games? Log on to play at the official game time: 9pmET/8pmCT/7pmMT/6pmPT every day of the week. Also Saturdays 8pm UTC.
It gets worse for the most part in A Feast for Crows then gets better in A Dance with Dragons. He kinda acknowledges this directly in a foreword at the beginning of ADwD.Raveen wrote:QUOTE (Raveen @ Apr 2 2013, 02:55 AM) I think being forced into a tighter, leaner plot is only going to be good for ASoFaI.
