Non-Allegiance related. High probability of spam. Pruned regularly.

I would just like to say Torrent sites are not illegal, nor is listing them. However listing specific torrents (specific movie) which may be copyright infringement is frowned upon and may lead to a grope from the FBI.

Without torrent sites how would people find the Arisman Codex containing the unreleased Allegiance Artwork?

Without FAO nobody would know what the Arisman Codex is:
http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.ph...soft_Source_Art

Just indexing random legal and illegal torrents doesn't help anyone.

PS:
I should recreate the torrent (zappers torrent is no more) and have to start seeding it again.

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.

Orly. The server lives in Canada, as does the owner, are you so postive on the subject you are willing to chance it for him? So please stop listing sites on this forum. Consider it your way of giving back by not turning this into some silly crusade.

HSharp, you must have a Facebook page. Post it there, instead.

Hmmm I didn't get the report myself. Ive deleted yours for the insult am quoting it below so as not to ruffle your feathers. This kind of post does break the barrier imho.

QUOTE I am in complete agreement, especially as an open source software enthusiast.
I reported Cookie's post but just now realized only one person will get the report.

I don't have any problem with these rules, but I just wanted to note that as far as I know, at least, torrents are no more illegal here in Canada than they are anywhere else; that is to say, as was mentioned, if it's a torrent that links to copyrighted material, then yes, that is of course a problem, but if not, then it's no more problematic up here than it is down in Usaland -- as far as I know, anyway. >_> I believe a copyright holder would have to actually file a complaint for any trouble to arise.

You ARE aware TE got claims and law sues for the most ridiculous things? Problem is, TE has to pay good money for legal defense. Good money for legal defense means less money for Alleg.

Even when TE got "it's ok" from some judge after a legal battle, it would cost him time.

:o Erring on the side of caution definitely seems reasonable.

That is to say, the very fact that this happened at all seems very un-reasonable, and it seems a sad fact that erring on the side of caution is the only safe approach to take as a result... O_o I am having a hard time imagining what even remotely plausible-sounding legal problem anyone could possibly have with this site.

At least the loser has to pay the legal costs in such cases, yes? But can't pay back for lost time. Poor TE.

If you can get sued for linking to a website that has torrents, you 1) should also get sued for linking to Youtube and 2) get much much better lawyers.
