lol sorry, at least it ruled out some of the possibilities, ok?
When reinstalling, do you uninstall the previous installation first?
Another thing, about the .NET Framework, Allegiance does not use any .NET Framework version other than 2.0. So for example if you have .NET Framework 3.0 installed you still have to install 2.0 in order for the game to work (properly?).

.net framework has nothing to do with running Alleg in windowed mode only, like artwork.
It seems that Alleg doesn't like the driver.

I've had several games experience problems with nVidia's "recommended" drivers before, including Allegiance (I have a 7600 GS).
Try this:
nVidia archived drivers
Search under GeForce 7 series, 7300GT, XP, English, All and try a few of the options there (preferably the ones with WHQL listed next to them)
I had to try three before I found one that worked with all games. For some reason the final GeForce 7 Series driver releases DON'T work with some games, I expect as an underhanded tactic to "force" you to upgrade to a newer card.
I ended up settling on the 6.14.11.751 but you'll probably have to experiment a bit.
Some games (Left 4 Dead does this for me) may give you a warning saying you're not using the newest drivers for your card, but I've been ignoring those warnings without any difficulties at all. Your mileage may vary.
Let us know how it works out and good luck!

I'm going to try all of the (9 or so) drivers listed that have WHQL certification. Thank you all for your help so far, and I'll get back to you on whether they work on not.
On an unrelated note, I love your mods Zero

I'm going to use your keyboard setup when mouse is working.

After installing less recent driver versions, I am now unable to load without going into safe mode first...
Maybe this game just hates me?
UPDATE: I updated my sound card driver and now I'm back to the original situation. Regular windowed mode, windowed mode while in safe mode, and both windowed and fullscreen in beta mode. Still no fullscreen in either regular or safe mode.

Ok, so in regedit (run from Start>Run>then type regedit and press Enter...) I went to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Microsoft Games>Allegiance>1.0
And changed the values 'CombatFullscreenYSize' to 320 (decimal value) and 'CombatFullscreenXSize' to 200 (decimal value). Hence the fullscreen resolution became 320x200, which I thought to myself beforehand, Alleg can't possibly support it. So after launching Alleg (windowed) with ASGS I went to training mission 6, then pressed Alt+Enter.
Alleg closes and ASGS comes up with 'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION'...
Beta mode uses HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Microsoft Games>Allegiance>1.1, so maybe, try different resolutions in the 1.0 folder? I dunno...
(Or else, I'm betting the values CombatFullscreenYSize and CombatFullscreenXSize are actually missing... oops, what am I saying.)

Hmm....you have a point. I tried checking in regedit a while ago, and, (unfortunately), the DWORD keys are there.
But you definitely have a point. I'm going to try and go to Fry's tomorrow, maybe I can get a better monitor...this LCD is sucky...1024x768 max res....yuck.
Thanks for the suggestion!

I've played Alleg on a netbook with 1024x600 max res, so that alone isn't the issue. Unless your particular brand of monitor is causing issues I doubt a new one will help (not to say you can't buy one, but don't do so just for Alleg).

Well we can all use the extra FOV for any game as well as the extra desktop space on a widescreen, don't we?

Go into Nvidia control panel and create a custom resolution of the size you wish to use in Alleg, then it will work.
Even though your display is designed to support the resolution you want, it must be created as a "Custom" resolution also within the Nvidia Control Panel application for it to work.
Since your current full screen allegiance setting is 800x600, create a custom resolution of 800x600 32bit, and see if it goes full screen.
