I think the bombing idea could be done in a decent (if not perfect) way with just a core change. Actual space soccer, with just one neutral HTT that can be pushed into either base, I don't think can be done.

NOAT says there is a minigame if you leave noat and join Team1 or Team2. Something with spacecrafts. But i am not in NOAT. I only do forum and IRC ;-)

one of the last hurdles would be, allowing pilots waiting for a 'big game' to start, to join and part the minigame completely unencumbered.
