Not just the soldiers of the past, but the soldiers of the present too.

Not just the soldiers themselves, but their families too.

... I can't make my unit's ceremony today (along with like 2/3rds of my detachment) due to a midterm smack in the middle of it..

Ps, remember your 2 minutes of silence. It is about to begin.

Thanks to all. For those of us that are still around, and all of us that are no longer with us.

My high schools ROTC group (which I am a part of) did a retreat today specifically for Veteran's Day. Retreat marks the end of the work day and the flag is offically lowered.
Thanks to all the men and women past or present who have served.

Can't forget Soma@PK, who got shipped out to Afghanistan a few days after he joined us. We've never heard a word from him since, but we hope he's okay and kicking ass.

ob1 and Newtype too.

Imoen as well, I think she's a helicopter pilot, was stationed in Mannheim, Germany for a while. Hasn't been around for a while.

Those kind of celebrations come with a bad taste in Germany. I am not sure what to make of them, it seems like accepting the wars those soldiers fought and died in. I cannot do that, even though the respective soldier could not decide whether to join an unjust war or nor. As I said, it is a difficult topic in Germany.

It not necessarily about the wars that we fought, rather it is about the willingness to put our ass on the line for our people.

The American people did not support the war in Vietnam, but his willingness to die for the cause is bravery at it's finest.
