Let me rephrase: There is no other sane reason for alephs to 'stop working' than ping issues.
You do not need to write a program to collect your ping data. Just hit Windows_Key+r, type cmd, hit enter, type ping planet.dras.us, hit enter. Use the -t switch to have it collect ping data indefinanetly.
