If you don't have a (#) by your name you can be booted for anything: not having a nan on your socut, going through obviously camped aleph to suicide, pissing the commander off, touching cons and miners, being generally useless nd/or doing stupid stuff. You agreed to rules that allow commanders to do that when you created your game account. I suggest you find and reead the rules. Start with the Wiki.

This boot should teach you, that telling commander to "$#@! off" will result in swift boot. Suck it up.

No, that's just mean. I would never say something like that ...

The community could be more polite and newbie friendly, but one get's used to it.

There's a subtle difference between angry, shouting newbies, angry, shouting vets and angry, shouting comms:

1. the newbies don't realy know what they're talking about, just that they're fed up with how the game's going (and sometimes because they don't get enough attention...)
2. The vet's usualy have an idea of what's going wong. If you're not occupied it might be wise to help the... Wait a sec, how can you not be occupied?!? Go lay some probes or nan those miners!
3. If a com shouts for something, listen to him. He knows what he's doing, and if he doesn't you can always blame him afterwards. It's no use to bash up the tactic because you thought something else was better. If you have a sugestion, politely inform him and he'll judge it. If you realy have a feeling he's doing everything wrong, wait some time to see if a vet makes a muteny poll. If it takes too long, just go. It's usualy a bad idea to keep flying if you don't support the strategy, though judging that is up to you.

This sounds just like my 1st post, except I didn't get booted..
My advice (after a few years now) it to just play, learn and have some fun...quietly..
The Cadet program helps tons, if you can learn that you really don't know allot.
If your skin is thick enough you'll still be here in a few years, if not then you'll move on...its really that simple...

When I did get my 1st boot (and only boot too...so far) I was in the Cadet program and I followed a Assault ship with my scout...boot...I was like WTF!!! (dam shizzy /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />)
But it turns out that is a bootable offense..as is pretty much anything...

Normally I stay out of these sorts of threads. But really.

So you played for 3 days, you don't know some of the basic rules (as indicated by your above quote), but yet in a game that was not going so well you thought it was a good idea to let the commander know that... and then when other players tell you to STFU (which I agree is not so nice but they were likely right) you reply in kind and then you are surprised the commander ejects you from the game.

Let's put it in perspective.

There is a pickup football game going on one nice Sun afternoon. A few of the players are pretty good, been playing for years, and the quarterback is not too bad. You join up. The game is not going well, you guys are behind, and likely out matched (often called a 'stack' if it is bad enough). The quarterback is likely not in a good mood at this point in the game. Now you, who have only played the game for 3 days and don't even know you are not allowed to 'sack' the quarterback (local long standing rules that are posted at the park entrance), think it is a good idea to point out that the quarterback's strategy is not working.

What you likely didn't know is that his strategy was the ONLY chance of pulling your asses out of the fire. And even if you didn't, when the 'regulars' tell you to shut up you didn't.

Now if this happened where I grew up you'd have gotten much more than ejection from the game, you would have gotten a punch in the mouth.

Please keep playing but I'd avoid 'poking' commanders, especially when things are not going well for them.

The fact that it was a 2 hour game meant his strategy was working to some degree, as you had not lost yet. Often games get to the point where you just hope to stave off defeat.
