you could save time with the sound work by working out what sounds you don't want, and removing their files from your artwork directory (you can just move them else where, don't have to delete them!)
then the ones you want to play will, and the ones you don't won't.
you could probably edit dialog.mdl to remove the bottom messages (or move them off screen)

just as i told you on the game, i think both rix and IC should appear in the video.
my reasons:
ic is the most stereotypic faction. you have scouts, a clearly defined, stereotypic ship with stereotipic metallic color. Interceptors are your average stereotypic dogfighting craft. they are, generally speaking, close to how combat crafts look (at least if you think particle weapons and afterburners can get along with each other). The ic base is a nice base, a big door with defined colors, the high res textures, and all the cute details
rix: rix just owns. besides, it contrasts a lot with ic. Rix outposts are quite complex (in comparison with the other ones), flashy and have both doors at the same side (so you could show that you undock on one, dock in the other one without having to rotate the camera or changing views.)
the only real problem i see is the background. it would be great if you used background pictures, there are many high res ones that would look cool (i'm thinking of a light blue and black one atm. check artwork sections to find it).
a red, yellow or light orange light would also make it easier for people to distinguish the background.
another thing that you might want to consider is using custom minigun sprites (bigger ones. the only one that needs to see them is the cameraman, rest can use reg sprites), i am not sure how this will affect the appearance of the video, but it is worth a try (my guess is that it will improve the understanding: who is shooting who, how people move, etc, etc.).
well, i wish you luck with your video. if you are planning to set up a stage, let me know when and i will either fly or help directing (or something)
cheers

Classifiable up to Trolleomorphism.
Mad, that's exactly what I was hoping for. I'm having to select which files I need to mute and by creating a batch file to rename them, I can give that batch file to the cameramen so they won't record unwanted sounds. I'll create another batch file to rename the sounds back to their original state.
Evin has a good point and I think the factions he's proposing is an excellent choice. The IC and Rix factions are so distinctly different that a viewer can easily identify one from the other even at a distance.
Asheron, I've been going over and over how to work a missile cam into the video. My thoughts are to use missile cam shots to show the viewer a "missiles away" kind of image. Flipping back and forth from the bomber's view and the missile view would give flow to the event right before missile impact, then a wide angle shot of the base blowing up. I've been trying to figure a way to show the bomber blowing up while the missile is still in flight giving rise to the climax where all looks lost until that last bit of hope strikes the base. A fast shot inside the base where you hear "Our base is under attack, evacuate" would be a nice touch too. I think I could pull it off but it would be the most complex part of the video and require very tight camera and player scripting. The fortunate side is that I could do this shot out of sequence from the rest of the film and add it in later.
In the Death Star attack, hope was all but lost after the first attempted shots on the Death Stars reactor core failed. The entire Rebel fleet exhausted all it's resources and appeared to be overwhelmed by the enemy. The climax was focused on those last shots fired from Luke's ship. By this time, the viewer is locked into the moment hoping for a successful outcome.
I believe a quality video must bring the viewer into the action in such a way as to translate the excitement we feel while actually playing the game. Every video I've seen so far appears more like a flight lesson than an action packed moment with lots of eye candy. I hate to say it, but this game needs to sell some eye candy if it's going to attract today's gamer.
