Alright. Void has talked about this before...

ALLEGIANCE STANDARD TIME. 00:00 AST= 3pm Eastern (in the US)

so an example!

Squad game! FTW vs WTF 00:00 AST

What time is that? Well, if its daylight savings time, it's 3pm EDT, 2pm CDT, 1pm MDT, 12pm PDT.

3pm EDT is -4 GMT.

Once Daylight savings kicks in...

00:00 AST = 3pm EST = -5 GMT.

Confused?

00:00 AST is the standard time for all squad games.

The clock automatically adjusts for time zones. Unfortunately we have not been able to get congress to recognize AST. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

call it CAT and make it run on UCT!
(mainly because it was my idea first!, cant be bothered to hunt much further back, the first time i suggested it is probably on the old forums anyway...)
+CAT sounds better than AST /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Sep 8 2007, 12:13 AM) i always thought CAT (Centeral Allegiance Time) was a good idea.

basically, its a page with allegiance time on, for simplicity it would be UCT so if you know you're UCT+7 then you are CAT+7. then organise all events on CAT time. then you can just look up the page and see that the event is 3 hours away.
they system could then be expanded with SLs and event zone people being able to add events to a calender, and then servers could be made to look up the db and announce things like "PK vs XT squad game in 1 hour on this DN 4.60 squads 1"
madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Oct 2 2007, 09:06 PM) i suggested something essentially the same as this years ago (CAT - central allegiance time displayed on a page, same as UCT for simplicity of conversion, maybe expand the system to allow people to schedule events at certain times on CAT, then on the CAT page, you cold have count downs like "1 hour 20 mins til pk vs XT", even more fancy is allowing FAZ to access the CAT server and display messages in game "20 minutes til GB vs srm on DN squads 2")...

...*checks page*...

:(
yes, madpeople is annoyed that when he suggested it multiple times in the past, but when someone else suggested it recently it gets implemented within a week and everyone congratulates them on what a good idea it was
