i seem to be having issues with finding out how to start the SMART in my HDD...
system specs:
OS:windows XP pro,

HDD: unknown... (i cant seem to find out the data on the hdd.... it seemed to want to stay hidden o.0)i will post what i can see), SiI RAID 0 set 0 SCSI Disk device.
Edit: (whoops i forgot this): connection:cable
ISP: comcast
my comp is an ACPI uniprocessor
alleigance mods: ( /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> there are mods?) none
this is ( i think) the reason why my account wont connect (client submitted invalid key) all i need is a how to on turning this thing on /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" /> .
PS. if you make a how to thingy on the help faq this might be avoided later on.then again some people wont read FAQs or rules /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

one problem with that... i really don't feel safe poking my computers brain like that... wait is the bios the brain or the heart.... o.0 0.o (would you want a doctor going "hmm how do i do this again? and whats this thing?... bah you don't need it" working on you?)if this Maxtor thingy will do it for me... were can i find it >.> or do i have to google it...
When you start your pc you'll see a message like "press <del> to enter bios". In stead of <del> it can also be another key, e.g. <f12>. SMART should be set in the bios, that's the safest option. I suggest not poking around with the maxtor utils.
On the bottom or the right of your screen you'll find the bios navigation keys.
There is nothing to be afraid of when working with the bios menu.
If you leave the bios menu you always get the question to safe or discard the changes. Unless you specify a safe, nothing is changed.
It's also a good idea to write the settings on a piece of paper in case your motherboard battery dies.
