Hi all just going to start posting my works in progress in this posting. Home One here is now ready for texture and other needed things to make it game ready. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The Polly count is under 2,200 /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> If need be I also saved this same model at under 600 pollies with a little less smoothness to it. Now for the paint job. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Yup they are huge compared to what we fly now. In fact they make the biggest thing in Effix look tiny. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> But, it will be neat to see. A ship half the entire sector... O,o Kidding only. Somehow Allegiance auto scales them I think. Need to know will four Turbo Lasers with long lasting power be the answer as turrets? And for the main guns maybe 3 or if possible 4 more Turbo Lasers?

I will be posting a few different texture options and asking for input on the best one. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The problem is that if you make them too big, they will come through allephs and ram rocks that are near. This will probably send them back through the alleph.

Unless you make all the sectors bigger too, but then you need to rebalance everything else.

Will sector size increase the distance asteroids are placed away from allephs?

that's not necessarily a bad thing, more variety between the cores would be nice, and i'd love to play a core that was more reminiscent of xwing vs tiefighter.

and yes, i know it would be an insane amount of work to implement anything like this and that it will likely never happen.

ps. too bad we couldn't import cool things like the energy management and damaged ship systems, that'd be sweet.

I *think* so but I'm not an expert on this stuff. I think asteroids and alephs are placed within a certain % of the radius of the sector so larger sectors should mean more spread out alephs and asteroids.

I am glad to see that people want more out off SW. SO DO I. Actually I have no clue about the Xwing vs tiefighter game, if that is a game of its own... But, if you list what features or aspects you would like a game of that nature to contain, guess what... It can be done. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> It might take a little time, but it can be done. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

So from just taking this info and making the cores possible we could have 3 styles of SW. The one Stone asks about, I could combine that with my trench wars idea, where the ships would be tie figs, xwings, and M-Falcon all with higher speeds, better energy use, and long lasting boosters.

We have the original SW core now. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And, last we could have a SW core like now with improved energy, speed, boosters.

Now for the maps and such, actually maps can be made to have rocks appear where we want them. Also larger sectors can be done, maybe larger and fewer sectors to keep it fun. But we have that trouble now sometimes with rocks being in odd places... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> But, I think Custom SW Maps would help make it easier to play. And, would make the SW core(s) feel like they are their own.

If you want sectors large enough to fit Star Destroyers and Mon Cals in then I think custom maps with a few very large sectors is the way to go. Sector radius is set in the core (one of the globals I believe) so al you'd need is maps.
