Lets do the math(s) shall we?

Now for a premium core XBox 360 I could pay ~ 280 GBP

GBP 280.00 = EUR 411.95 = USD 550.90 = CAD 634.81 = SKK 13770.13 = AUD 673.57 = DKK 3070.73 = SEK 3819.36

Now lets include the 40 GBP p.a. it would cost to have a continuous X-box Live subscription.

Now, in Britain, the PS3 price is GBP 420

GBP 420.00 = EUR 617.92 = USD 826.34 = CAD 952.21 = SKK 20655.20 = AUD 1010.36 = DKK 4606.10 = SEK 5729.04

So. For the same price as a PS3, I could have an XBox360 and XBox Live foooorrrr:

PS3: 420.00

Xbox360: 280.00

Xbox Live: 40.00

420.00 - 280.0 = 140.00

140.00 / 40.00 = 3.5

Three and a half years.

And if you say: Pah, in the long long run getting a PS3 be worth it.

Lets do the same for the XBox 360 Core version.

Price: GBP 199

GBP 199.00 = EUR 292.78 = USD 391.53 = CAD 451.17 = SKK 9786.63 = AUD 478.72 = DKK 2182.41 = SEK 2714.47

Xbox: 199

PS3: 420

XBox Live: 40

420 - 199 = 221

221 / 40 = 5.525

Over five and a half years. By which time, I might add, the 8th gen of consoles would have come out. (We're on the 7th atm).


Conclusion: PS3 NOT WORTH IT.

Why bother with a @#$% controller? If everything was free, there would still be @#$% controllers, and @#$% TVs.

I think it'd be worth it.

Less lag, bigger screen. Perhaps more comfortable for the console games amongst us.

Until Sony gets better at networked gaming the ps3 is not an option. Where microsoft is going to win is in delivering HD TV over the xbox from the internet, from other PCs and from networked set top boxes to the xbox at a different TV. HD DVD drives and blue ray drives are going to cost 99 bucks in the next 12 months. I have never been a fan of using a console to watch movies on, they usually suck as dvd players.
