I have this (i think very noobie) idea that Allegiance's cap ships with turrets will rule the skies --- ecept that I suspect that for game winning, bombers with powerful bombs and excorts will always blow away cap ships.
am I right?
how does it work usually...
(is taking down a cp ship the same as taking down a base with base bombs? - also cap ships are so much slower than fighters right? so much less flexible. is this why cap ships are comsidered noobie and everybody just plays bombers in endgame? when is a cap ship called for?)
(the reason im asking isbecause i still like the granduer of capships >< one game there was an incoming cruiser fully terrted and all the guns blazing as it came in looked awwesome)
Just how powerful are cap ships and turrets...
Everything has a weakness. If the death star can die anything can.
Caps are expensive and die to cheaper tech, caps require brains and teamwork, teams don't have brains and are lazy.
Funny enough, caps ARE slower then fighter hyuck hyuck.
Move along.
P.S. cruisers carry nukes.

n.b. I may not see a forum post replied to me or a pm sent to me for weeks and weeks...
caps are both too powerful and too weak.
in small games you don't have the players to stop them, in big games they die easily.
they are fast moving ships too, not lumbering behemoths (unless you play eor)
quite often you see them (cruisers, frigates etc) getting nanned like big bombers.
nukes are more powerful than ABs
rix dests are cheese, other dests need better missiles
use ICE or TEK to find out how powerful different weapons are

A game with teams of >20 people, sup team will destroy capships with dis and galv. An exp team with EMP cannons will also destroy them. A tac team with killers and EMP mines will destroy them.
In short, in larger games with pilots who have a clue, caps will die.

I've got a feeling that people use to think capships, unlike bombers, are standalone ships. Am I wrong?ImmortalZ wrote:QUOTE (ImmortalZ @ Mar 27 2007, 12:27 PM) In short, in larger games with pilots who have a clue, caps will die.
How often are they sent with a trail of nans with their prox mines?
Recently, in a game with rix caps against... adv sup forgot the faction, caps where being eaten alive by fighters. I was too laggy to turret so I picked the usual prox nan scout, got in front of one of the caps and dropped prox mines while nanning it. The first prox ate 3 fighters.
Ok, nans would die fast to adv sup tech, but that's the time the turrets need to kill the defenders and the cap to reach the enemy base. Instead of buying many caps and send them to the death row, comms could invest a bit in better tech for nans. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
