Well the admins for mpogd must realize that vote 'bots' are being used. My prediction of 1K votes came true (but I was off by a day /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />) I am guessing the admins just don't care as publicity for their site is publicity. Just as long as their advertisers are not paying for every page load they shouldn't care either.

The only nice thing about trying again next month is these guys cannot run against us and unless one of the other's joins the bot game (which they might as it just takes an email with instructions (or a script) to get one of the other groups doing this as well.

Being first would get an entry for us in their 1st place history lists for (what looks like) years, or as long as they stay around.

One vote a day or nothing at all, IMHO.
We made outrageously stupid acts once, just to counter stupid acts from others.
I'll let them and people like them go on on their own "i'm cunning as a weasel" thing, life will teach them how much cheating (in any field) pays.

Just my 2 cents.

I might start voting again, maybe. But if I see any inclination of out people proxy'ing or even voting on multiple machines (at home and work for example), I'm out for the rest of that month.

Seriously though. I think we should first see how many of the new players we attracted with the voting are sticking to Allegiance. You know, it's no good if we attract 200 players and piss off 190 of them /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

If the new players do stick around, then we can call this "adventure" a victory and who knows, maybe we could try that again.
If the new players do not stick arond, then not even 50'000 votes are going to help increase the playerbase.

Adaven -- get with the frekin' program. We don't want to win -- we want to finish a close second. No matter how we do this -- don't go getting all moral here. This site has no rules -- one vote per isp -- that is the only rule. WE have been imposing all sorts of moral dillemmas on ourselves because some dude over at EU was getting tired of being a one man band voting machine -- and he was gettng PAID to do that.

the MPOGD is a good site for us to advertise on. This is the site on which I first found allegiance. Not through towp ten games -- but through looking at the game I was playing then and searching for simlar games.

From a business strategy point of view -- we need to get Allegiance into the #2 spot once a month or once every two months. We got 157 new players from our little voting contest.

I know the casdet folks like baxter are working their tails off and we have an adopt a newbie thread going. I have tried to teach some of the new folks in game some of the basics. I worry we are not doing enough to teach them quickly, and have volunteered to help, but I am not sure of the best way to do so that fits in a coordinated way with everything else that happens here.

Could there be a weekly 'intro to allegiance' for (0) and (1) ranks that allows them to learn the basics in like a one hour game where vets tutor the new guys?

Easiest thing to do is to find a vet online who is willing to help, pull the newbies together, start a relaxed game where they can learn, optionally have a couple cadets comm the game.
