Other than my dislike for custom cores (which I really hope ANL has to avoid looking like someone who doesn't do his research). I believe that a team needs a good commander to have a chance at actually winning, rather than just being there to make up the numbers and become the tourney whipping boys, I'm not into being praised for a plucky effort by people riding the back of *insert random elite commander here*. With the current playerbase it's highly unlikely that eight good commanders are going to be convieniently placed geographically for that to happen. Oh and there are too many teams.

This is me trying to be constructive (really).

Anyway, kudos for organising it, just not for me in its current form.
Sorry I drafted you for TnA and have made you our elite backseat commander.

I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

Duckwarrior, we're not currently using a custom core, though we do plan on it, however the custom core will not be all that different then what people are used to. A more balanced version (for 15-25 player teams) of GoD/DN/PCII - (leaving aside anything that belongs to only a specific core), anyway that's a ways off and you'll not be confused by it when you see it.

As for the commanders, we've a nice selection seen here, keep in mind that the Team Captains aren't specifically the ones that will command their games, they often assign someone else to command. The only one of those that is noticeably a class above is aarmstrong and he's not unbeatable (and thankfully he's agreed to help us with organizing the 2008 season and not being on a team).

Feel free to let us know what it would take to get you to signup. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

P.S. I think you are now spidey's slave-commander? /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Snotra, the reason why we wanted vets and @cadet graduates was for several reasons. First off it helps make sure that the players that do signup are active to one degree, this game has a large learning curve and some people tend not to be able to hack it... and disappear. Related to that is they could handle Alleg if they completed @cadet, so we encourage people to join @cadet, then to join the league.

Cadets are more then welcome to show up and participate in the league games, we simply won't assign them 'officially' to a team until they graduate the @cadet program. It's less wasted work for us when they disappear, gives us a better gauge of how many players are active per team, and also let's the players on the team feel confident in their fellow players without asking basic questions like "what's a nan" & "how do I turret" (no offence intended, simply illustrating a point).

Signups are ongoing, always, so as soon as a cadet graduates they are welcome to signup 'officially' to a team. In the mean time, feel free to show up for game days (perhaps contact the Captain of the team you are hoping to join) and we'll find a spot for you. I'll have to make that more clear in how the league works with @cadet to get them involved. Perhaps we need an ANL advisor to help organize that aspect of the league?... /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I'd be more than happy to sign up for this thing, but seeing as my cadet/soon-to-be-cadet status would rule me out, I guess I won't. Why can't people just take a test that would let them be considered post-cadet without going through the program? It'd probably save me a lot of time.
So, you've got a fighter. It's still space debris, until you get some skill.

Well, if only for the reason that many people that have completed the @cadet course have the knowledge and 3 months of playing time, which could often mean that they could, in a lightly armed scout, take out someone without that basic knowledge, who's in heavy interceptor. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

However, as I said before, if you sign up for @cadet we'll still be able to take those people into the league on a turn up and play basis, we'll keep them with the same team when they do show (if possible) and we'll intergrate them into that team 'officially' once they graduate.

Obviously we need to work more closely with the @cadet program as we're not getting the message across to all those great cadets. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

If you haven't read the material how could you pass? It's not solely about the ability to dog fight by the way.

The Cadet Connection a thread to discuss specifcally cadet integration into the league.
