I have environments and posters turned off, so the grid helps me with my bearings. Every so often i turn it off, like when I'm frapping or taking screenies.
Grid on when probing or proxing since it also gives heigh lines for targets. Off when it gets too busy or I forget about it. A bit like my familiar to be honest...
I don't get to whore, so I don't turn it off for that either.
I don't like any of the radar modes. All is most required, but bah to make out in camps and so forth.
i only use the grid when im stealthing to stay of the plain, so I dont get detected an can fly rigt above a base at about 3k without the fear of being spotted or some random pilot finding my @#(!...
On for sure when probing, sb hunting, in any type of stealth ship, usually when I am bombing (It helps me to fly around mines by setting multiple course corrections). Whore mode, never on.
Always on. I don't always orient my ship to the grid (through sometimes I do), but it helps me remain oriented within a sector so I can more easily flip around and run or use a rock for cover. It also helps me maintain orientation when flipping in and out of F3 rapidly (I'll even flip to F3 mid-fight sometimes to get a global view of the situation).
