Allegiance Training Videos - Google Video
This is up on Google Video for easier sharing: 55 sec "intro to the training video"
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3044725988345278698
The real content is under construction...
Edit: It's notable that this topic has the same number of reads as "Read Me First" and "How do I play?"... combined. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
I better get these done, quick!

I have to also pass on my kudos. The videos are both engaging and of very high quality. Excellent work!

"Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." -2 Cor 12:9
"Never know how long I've waited, anticipated your smile pressed against mine." -Running
This video is far from 'a first trial'. Great work.
I mean the whole concept seems to be good. Nice scences, a great voice AND in my opinion the RIGHT words at the RIGHT time.
Poor i am NO Newb anymore who has to be convinced of this game /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Lawson, I proposed Training videos nearly a year ago, I felt it was the only way to easily and quickly jump start the average newbie, unfortunately I lack the resources and Know How and no one wanted to aid in my plight. Now my situation for know how and resource though has improved slightly, my time on the other hand has dramatically dwindled to almost no free time.
But I have Relics from my first attempt, in creating a script, plot and general suggestions for the creation of basic Bombing tactics.
I was was never good with English but perhaps it will give you some inspiration, use it anyway you want too.
Bomber Runs: start off with the loadout menu.
voice: The bomber, the standard station assault ship. This lumbering craft has slow acceleration and maneuverability. It's primary purpose is to destroy any stationary objects which cannot be damaged by ordinary ships, such as fighters, interceptors and stealth fighters.
The default load out of the bomber contains only 1 extra load out of anti-base missiles, which is a total of 8 missiles. This load out is only useful if you plan on killing 1 base otherwise you may want to manually switch your load out to this:
*replace 2 ammo packs with AB missiles*
this current load out is much more universal. You now still have an ample supply of ammo packs for fending off that pesky defense and plenty of missiles for attacking more bases if you succeed in destroying the primary and choose to move on. The decision to attack an enemy base adjacent to the one you have just destroyed must be weighted on how many casualties have been taken.
*VC: "I need turret gunner's now"
*wait 5 seconds*
*one turret gunner enters*
*VC: "gunner ready"*
*VC: "Bomber waiting for turret gunners"
*next gunner enters ship*
*VC: "gunner ready"*
Attracting the attention of your team is also important make sure you clearly state where your going from and what sector your attacking. Ask for nanites and sometimes you can ask for interceptors to defend you as well. For now, nanites scouts are all we will need.
*bomber launches camera shows it coming out*
*switch camera t scout load out*
the scout has many purposes for now its purpose will be for defending the bomber.
The default load out will not suit for this at all. *switch the gat gun to nan gun* The nan gun will be the first change you make secondly you will want whatever offensive equipment you can suit up on the scout. Missiles are either left as they are or switched to dumb fire missiles. Proximity mines AKA prox *set all ammo and probes to proximity mines* is the main use of attack for the scout during a bomber run. The mines are deployed during the time when you are in the heat of battle. Your primary goal is to keep the bomber alive but pressing "d" will deploy mines behind you to keep the attacking ships off your flank. *go to bomber again with a nan train and scouts attacking far off killing probes with missiles. it is discouraged to use missiles other then to kill Probes that may spot the bomber on it's way to the enemy sector *freeze frame and square in on missile being shot at probe, resume*. Surprise is the key to a successful bomb run. If the bomber is spotted chances of a camp depend on how long until you enter the aleph each minute wasted after being spotted raises the chance of a camp dramatically. to know if your spotted you will see an eye in the bottom right hand corner of your screen *square in on the eye, resume*
Voice: lets watch how deadly a camp can be to a bomber
*show clippings form many successful camps*
Voice: ok now lets get into the actual combat of the bomber run
Scouts keep the bomber alive by nanning the hull of the bomber by doing as such:
* show top view of bomber using (f10 or f12?) with nans nanning it*
the turret gunners primary job is to kill any resistance they meet.
Turrets have a range of 1500 Meters
*show the view of a turret gunner shooting at oncoming fighters*
* after go to the pilot's view*
Bomber pilot: you job requires the most brains but the least skill in terms of flying. Your main goal is to not be seen until absolutely necessary, avoiding mines and collisions by enemy ships, and finally to fire missiles when within range.
*show a missile lock on base* fire, station blows up
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial on bomber runs.
*show clippings of camps and bomber runs of all sorts that die or blow up bases. all the while playing Louie Armstrong's it's a beautiful world.

i am johnny-come-lately to this thread - and the best thing I do with videos is to watch them. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
Seriously, the intro is too serious. The quality is great and the voice is professional sounding. However, the symphonic stuff and the intro text is overdone, imho.
I actually like the way you did the very first video -- jumped right to the action. For a training video, just get right to it.
Overall, this is really first rate -- my comments deal more with the style/feel (make it light and fast moving rather than heavy and 'serious') - not content.
I also liked that you say that training intro really is not all you need to know to play the game well. Telling folks their time is well investeed in learning more, however, is probably not necessary.
These comments are all very much MHO, as I am no genius.
Oh -- Lawson -- u r one talented dude. Keep on keepin' on, man.

Lawson, I just stumbled upon this thread and I have to say - wow.
Absolutely amazing. The ONLY suggestion I'm going to give you is: Don't listen to anyone! Your stuff is amazing without anyone's help - just keep on doing what you're doing! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Oh and, if you do decide to do a bomber run one, DON'T start the video off at the loadout menu like suggested above! Start out with the chat, and with F3 to find the target and the path there!
Again though - kudos. These things are amazing.
