People have commented on the economic lols but this is what really grinds my gears:

QUOTE 8. Rein in the military-industrial complex by

reducing military spending by 50% and closing U.S. military bases around the world;
restoring the National Guard as the centerpiece of our system of national defense; and,
creating a new round of nuclear disarmament initiatives.
I'm not sure if the GND types give a @#(! about the rest of the world, which would fare significantly worse in a geopolitical sphere dominated by China or Russia, or if they just don't understand how much of the global world order is dependent on US military might. Nevermind the amount of benefit that the US itself gets from being the world's greatest superpower.

Yeah that one to me was like "ok so... these people have no idea what the majority of the US military actually does."

Hint: it's not a coincidence that South Korea and Japan, both sites of major US military bases, have developed into important world economies.

We could stop bombing people though. I'd be fine with that.

I would genuinely be fine if we stopped bombing them, too.

unfortunately, until the rest of the world actually grows a pair, it is more aligned with America's interests to pay to protect everyone that matters than let them fall prey to @#(!ty regimes like China and Iran.

-50% in military funding is still 400 billion dollars just saying. We don't need a Spaceforce ffs.. or more nukes.

Why not pay teachers and focus on education. Remember education? Or students?
Why not spend the money on a single payer health care system.
Or on infrastructure or ANYTHING ELSE anyone ever talks about.

What the $#@! it's so obvious that we need to spend more on other things like education and less on the military, even if that means losing some footing around the world.

Not only education, what about the VA? Our veterans continue to get screwed but lots of people here still think we should submit more people to the military.

We need a nuclear first-strike capability and we need bases around the world to protect our allies.

QUOTE What the $#@! it's so obvious that we need to spend more on other things like education and less on the military, even if that means losing some footing around the world.
For counties like Japan and South Korea who live in the shadow of belligerents who have weapons aimed at them (hi, North Korea) the US losing footing around the world greatly increases the chances that they die.

QUOTE Not only education, what about the VA? Our veterans continue to get screwed but lots of people here still think we should submit more people to the military.
Veterans get screwed because we keep fighting random wars in random places. No one in this thread is suggesting we fight more wars. Actually, the people who are saying "don't close military bases" are simply pointing out that we haven't fought wars in nations that have US military bases since WW2.
