Let's try to keep it constructive. Alleg code is really gnarly. It's easy to write bugs, and even if Radulfr wasn't such a raging thunder*#$@, the feedback he's gotten probably wouldn't encourage anyone to keep plugging at trying to make Alleg better. So if he wants to contribute, great, if he doesn't, well, let's find someone else who will.

Wow Cashto, you volunteered in record time! I'll see what I can do about getting BT to give you the keys ;)

You know what, if I can get a proper work environment, so I don't ever have to wait on BT & Co. again, I'm willing to fix all those bugs. Also without all the waiting, this might just be fun enough for me again to do more.

What I need is basically direct control of one of the US servers. I want it to be a test server I can upload new versions to at any time and can actually read the server logs on. (Ridiculous that I have been making server changes without ever seeing a live log.)
Probably along with GitHub rights to maintain a dedicated branch. Although I'm perfectly happy with using my personal branch and only having to worry about the test version & server.

Being able to read the logs and modifying the server to produce meaningful logs are necessary tools to track down bugs like those, which apparently can't be reproduced in simple one/two player games.
Also it has to be a US server, as people usually refuse to play on anything else, even if it didn't have any other issue.

Get me that and you will get to profit from my improved C++ skills.

Do you promise not to mess with core gameplay mechanics?

Ryujin wrote:QUOTE (Ryujin @ Aug 30 2018, 09:27 PM) Regarding the latter quote- Take care of yourself man, do what makes you happy and betters your life situations.

Regarding the first, I'm no coder, but maybe if you can identify which stuff you did that was updated into updates over your time here into this or that category, we can rollback the bad ones and keep the good and you can be known as a fixer not a breaker?
Bare minimum I like Ryujin's idea.

If the areas of the code are identified for us, at least we would have a place to start in case you are unable or won't fix the borked stuff.
I believe the servers haven't been updated since April which caused the BOT DM servers to break.
BT is trying to fix the BOT Servers to get them back.
I'm not sure when you sent BT your fixes, quite possibly after the last update???????????
I understand the problem because some of the bugs you may have fixed we just can't tell because of no server updates.

Are all you changes on GitHub?
Did you take screen shots of the code before and after the changes?
If so, are you willing to share them?
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

I would happily give you access to one server to test on if it was up to me. Politics we might not agree on, and those bugs I'm not thrilled about, but I will continue to say "I appreciate the work you put in."
However, I still think for keeping game play good we should roll back to before the He3 drop bug and the miner AI change, and then re-implement all the bug fixes etc.. that we know didn't break stuff, while work is done to fix the broken stuff. Gotta keep the game fun and gameplay dymnamics good to keep players.

P.S. Where the $#@! is Weedman? Hope he's OK

FTFY. There's a lot of room for improvement in core gameplay mechanics, the real issue was that it was done unilaterally and without any input from anyone.

Dome, could you possibly stop splitting, moving, renaming, and editing threads? Some edits made some sense, but this latest one is total bull@#(!. Now a reply to a post which is now here is in "Backtrack's thread" and also the context of many of the posts is lost.

Backtrak edited my post to make that poll. This most recent split makes the most sense, so that people can read stuff that backtrak wrote and not the back and forth contained in this thread. Ezpz
