I think you're referring Sura 2:106, which refers to the concept of abrogation, but if so, you've got it all wrong, because it's Allah who abrogates Allah's earlier commands. Not Mohammed.
Mohammed's just a prophet. Ask literally any Muslim this. The shahada, the fundamental profession of faith in Islam, is literally "there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet".
Btw, Christians also have a very similar concept that the Old Testament is null and void, and that Jesus cancelled it by "fulfilling" the Law of Moses. The justification is different, but the effect is the same, since Christianity is obviously a radically different religion than the one that preceded it.
I guarantee you that there is no concept in Islam, or Christianity, or Buddhism or Hinduism or any other religion that thousands of people have not written books over, spent years studying, gotten into bitter arguments over, so if you ever feel that five minutes on Jihadwatch.org has given you a comprehensive overview on the full range of what Muslims actually believe, I can assure you, that's probably not the case.
