Hey there,

Happy New Year! Why don't you give the CortUI 2.0 betas a try! :)

Download: CortUI-2.0-beta1 installer [Version 2.0 has been released, please grab the final installer from http://cortui.rtsquad.org/!]

Major changes, compared to 1.7x:Installer support for the latest Allegiance client, CSS and Windows 10.HUDs are now selected and switched inside the Allegiance client, using the 'Graphics' -> 'Style' menu (or Esc, O, H). Check the bottom right corner while in hangar or on the map to see which HUD you currently have active, as the Allegiance client will only generically name them "Normal", "Software", "Custom 1", and so on.Various small visual changes and realignments with the goal of a more stable visual language: UI elements have been unified across screens and animations have been reduced to a minimum. If you have never heard of CortUI, you'll find screenshots and features at http://cortui.rtsquad.org/ (although they still need to be updated for 2.0).

Let me know if you're experiencing any new issues with this build. If you have actual in-game issues, please also note which HUD you're using (see the bottom right corner when in hangar or on the map).
Please understand that there will be no feature development during the beta phase, save those ideas for afterwards (or open a ticket in the issue tracker).

A lot of credit goes to Blacksun for motivating me to pick this up for a release again!

---

For those of you who need to know more more more, here's a slightly more detailed list of the visual changes:
Various workarounds for low resolutions (1366x768 and below) have been removed, assuming that these resolutions are now very rarely used. (If you really do, sorry, this might not be for you.) This made room for many cleanups and normalizationsThe lobby mod (ten or more lines of chat) has been removed because it's currently blocked from installation by CSS/AU. This really pains me, because I personally really miss this. I'm working with Blacksun on getting this back eventually. The hangar mod has been removed, because it's really obsolete in a world of resolutions beyond 800x600.A lot of items on the loadout screen had been rearranged, because the loadout screen would switch to its own special resolution in old client versions. As this is no longer the case, the loadout screen now uses all the same UI elements (e.g. ten lines of chat, orders, base info, etc.).The 'current sector' display in the top right would previously rather arbitrarily change colors. Now it shows in one text color if displaying the sector the player's ship is in, and in another when viewing another sector while in base. The text in the inventory pane in the bottom right is finally properly aligned to the background, rejoice!

I am getting this "error" in Chrome, but you can bypass it relatively easily.

I have always played Alleg at lower resolutions, usually 1280x768 or 1280x720. Turning, etc never seemed as precise at higher resolutions. Thought others felt the same but maybe not?

I think that's rather unusual, because hardly anyone still has a CRT monitor, and on a TFT anything but the native resolution just looks blurry as hell. (And besides tablets, almost no TFT has a resolution below 1366x768.)

That said, you have two options: First of all, CortUI 2.0 just might not be for you. Sorry, but I'm not gonna maintain support for low resolutions anymore. Second, you can just give it a try, on most HUDs the worst that's going to happen is probably a few overlapping menus or hard to read text (because it isn't shown on black background as expected).

Yeah, I mean the statement is true for sure: it hasn't been downloaded often (probably never will for Google's standards). I don't think there's a whole lot I can do. The same applies to the Win10 default rejection of unknown executables.
It's a solid policy: never run files from anyone you don't trust (in this case me)!

For what it's worth, I've enabled the Google Webmaster Tools for the site, it says "Google has detected harmful content on some of your site’s pages", but then when I fetch the list of "harmful samples", it's empty. I haven't provided downloadable executables for a long time, so if anyone knows more about this process, please advise!
