What is worrying is now that Scotland want to leave, portentially NI becomes Ireland. France and Netherlands also going to start process for referendums to leave until a slippery slope of EU being dismantled.

Which sets up the stage perfectly for WWIII, hooray.

Where did you read that? in the same UK tabloids that made Brexit possible ?

It's just the far-right in France that asked for a referendum but the government politely declined. Similar stuff in the Netherlands.

I doubt we will see any such referendums anytime soon.

But I do fear that the main EU leaders (DE & FR & ITA) will push for a swift and painful 'retaliation' on the UK so that other countries aren't tempted to follow.
It's basic 'fear' psychology like the Mob does: if someone leaves or betrays, be very harsh on him to keep everyone else in check.

And there we see the problem with the EU. "The main EU leaders".

Everybody is equal. It's just that some are more equal than others.

No matter what FR may think and "push for", I suspect that DE & IT may consider a more pragmatic response. Britain leaving the EU is in nobody's interest. Merkel realises there is a possibility of UK parliamentary intervention . She is playing a wise game, Juncker has been reined in from his predictably I'll judged, heavy handed response. If it fails, then we may well see a tougher line more compatible with French desires.

Ask Estonia, Denmark, The Czech Republic & Poland how they feel about the UK departure and you may well get a different response than the one from the "Main EU leaders" based on what their leaders have been saying for the last week.
