This is a great website to get custom made apparel at not upfront cost to the shirt designer.everywhere116 wrote:QUOTE (everywhere116 @ Jul 11 2015, 10:44 PM) How much does it actually cost to manufacture T-shirts? I would have thought its a big investment but everyone and their dog is selling shirts on Youtube so obviously it's not that expensive to do.....
This entire thread reminds me of a website called clientsfromhell. It's a collection of submitted stories from programmers, web developers, artists and such complaining about their clients. Mostly it's about stupid clients who don't understand @#(! about what they're ordering, but there's a dash of people whose clients don't understand that you have to pay more than $50 or whatever for a professionally made logo or website or whatever.
We pretty much rely on the talent of people who love the game to work on it for free, making new factions, new cores, new updates and whatever. Our issue with not having programmers passionate enough to help us is directly related to the playerbase numbers as a whole. If we attract new players we'll also attract new programming talent who might be interested in pitching in to make their mark on Allegiance. This is basically the same situation that Supreme Commander is going through right now, but their community is larger and thus has a bigger pool of donators and programmers to work with. Plus the game itself works better to bounce back from bad population numbers for reasons beyond our control.
It's either that or one of us wins the lotto so they'll have a spare 10 grand to give to Dome and blacksun to hire talent.
It's almost like a kickstarter for custom shirts, hoodies, etc.
It would be easy to set this up with Allegiance artwork to help raise money to keep the website/game/advertising/pay a developer.

Game is free to play and free to develop upon.goddesspapa wrote:QUOTE (goddesspapa @ Jul 11 2015, 11:40 PM) Is there an official repo for this project somewhere? I think I'm even more confused about the state of things after reading the forum.
Microsoft still owns the rights to Alleg and anything produced for it thereafter (eg: Player-made factions).
We cannot profit from this game at all unless Microsoft revises their license agreement.
phoenix1 wrote:QUOTE (phoenix1 @ Jul 22 2017, 05:58 PM) Mini ac gunner mount was removed because somewhere along the lines we had a core dev that said, "I really hate Terran and want him to be miserable." And all core devs ever since have agreed.

Thanks, I actually took a second to look over the project this evening including the license.Deathrender wrote:QUOTE (Deathrender @ Jul 12 2015, 07:17 PM) Game is free to play and free to develop upon.

Seems pretty limiting, has anyone contacted Microsoft to see if they will re-issue under something less restrictive now that they are a bit more open source friendly?
I actually had a ridiculously long post typed that I ended up erasing as during the course of typing it, it answered a lot of questions I had. For lack of a better term, how much interest might carry over for an Allegiance "clone" built on top of Mono/C#/Unity3D? Starting out from scratch would open a lot of options, including distribution through channels like Steam/GoG, etc, access to more platforms from a single code base, and a decent shot at subsidizing the infrastructure cost through a variety of means. It would be exciting to see games with 256 or more players, semi-persistent universes, etc which were all goals during the Alpha/Beta but dropped as the game got nearer to release. Adding in a legitimate scripting system for a single player training mode, the ability to really dig in with the RTS aspects and even offer layered command/sub command options... and yeah there's a lot that can be done with this premise. I guess if this was to move forward it wouldn't really require any of the existing community to sign off on it, but it would be nice to have it's blessing.
yet another of those...goddesspapa wrote:QUOTE (goddesspapa @ Jul 13 2015, 10:01 AM) Thanks, I actually took a second to look over the project this evening including the license.

Don't people realize the real complexity of Allegiance ? it's like an AAA game today.
For Elite Dangerous which is, on many aspects, simpler than Allegiance, they had to collect $2.4 millions thru Kickstarter just to boot up the whole thing, based on a £8 millions budget ($12 millions).
Sure you can cut a lot of costs when doing 'amateurish/indie' work but still it's not something that can be done so easily...otherwise it would have been done a long time ago.
Allegiance is a complex game, it's not Tetris or Minecraft.
I don't want to discourage anyone but look at the complexity first. Take a pen and right down the detailed specs and everything that is needed.

to come up with the money, sell owner right like,
IC scout = 500 US dollars
Giga scout = 500 US dollars
IC int =1k
Giga =1k
IC bomber =2k
Giga Bomber =2k
IC command seat 5k
Giga commander seat 5k
factors owner right = 10k
all those can be rent it out to the player, 25 cents per hour
think of it as a investment, you can sell it later..
just a way to make the money for the game..
I would not mind leasing it .
allegiance vet name with donation ?
that is how other game can come up with the money

No, I don't think anyone ever thought of or discussed that.goddesspapa wrote:QUOTE (goddesspapa @ Jul 13 2015, 02:01 AM) Thanks, I actually took a second to look over the project this evening including the license.
