Allegiance has been through tough times, but this current time may be the toughest.

We need actionable ideas.

Cashto is working with Microsoft.
Deathrender is going to take over the marketing forum.
P1 is running the core.
Alaskan is running Cadet 1.
Vogue is running Cadet 2.
I'm still doing Events.
PKK is helpline caretaker and general admin.
BackTrak is ACSS support.
Thallium is making a new homepage.
AEM is hosting US1,US2 and hosts freespacecombatgame.com
Paps is Enforcement lead and Treasurer

I have no idea why R8 stopped being developed. Djole/P32/Xjammer working on Alleg2 still? Is that even happening anymore?

WE NEED MORE HELP. WE ARE LOSING THIS FIGHT.

Should I invest every last marketing dollar into professional web development to expedite new homepage process?
Should I invest every last marketing dollar into professional devs to finish R8?
Should I get a booth at PAX or some other convention?

Should we completely abandon FAO and start over?

I'm absolutely sick and tired of the roadblocks we encounter every day, week, month, year. It's absurd. I'm fully invested in this game I will not abandon it when so many people have put their faith in me to improve it. BUT IT'S NOT IMPROVING. WE ARE LOSING PLAYERS EVERY DAY. LEAGUE GAMES ARE BEING FORFEITED WHILE WE ONLY HAVE FOUR SQUADS.

I will not accept the option of shutting the game down, not even as a joke. I don't want closure. This isn't a relationship. This is a hobby that is dying at my watch... at our watch.

There are many options. I'm leaning toward seeking out a dev or devs to finish R8 and making it worth their while. After that I want to $#@!ING GET A BETTER WEBSITE AND SOON. We don't have to learn how to do it ourselves. We need to get it done now.

WE NEED MORE PLAYERS. IS THERE SOME WAY OF GETTING THEM I'M NOT SEEING? YOU TELL ME.

My 2 cents

Besides the fact, that our senior admin, knows that we have a much better website, but yet does not replace it for unknown reasons.
Pkk, ive pmed you several times with several ideas,".
I told you " can we use this? Do what you can"
You never replied.
I can understand that.
I am an upstart, a puny modder.
But I care about allegiance.
To me, you just dont anymore.
I do not know why, you go mia sometimes. But an admin who is inactive and allows complancency and stagnation to fester into the game he is supposed to lead, should not be admin anymore.
We have told you ( me dome and others),that freespacecombatgame.com is a better site, and yet you gave a vague no as an answer.
Why did you stop caring?
You should be the one calling for tests on r8 not me.
Why you dont care anymore pkk?
Do you want allegiance to die after all?
I don't.
I want allegiance to live.
I want to heal the patient, not keep it on life support.
Dome can only do so much.
Please tell us why are you inactive on the most pressing matters.
Alaskan has asked you to remove blogs and put a cadet banner.
Why havent you done so?!
I dont want to despise you, but why are you blocking our efforts?!

Imho the website is just the label on the bottle of wine. I think people just want to play a nice game, if there is a problem people want to ask a question and get help.

For me, FA died when ACE died. I miss the old gang and the glorious epic battles. The great stories. I keep lurking from time to time on the forum, posting an article every now and then.

The current FA lives on a server, which the admin refuses to turn off. Otherwise FA would have been gone 2 years ago. In 10 years the server might still be on. A mausoleum of a once thriving community. An archaeologist might visit it and wonder who those people were, what happened to the once great community.

My 2 cents? Set a deadline. Pick a date in the near future, say halfway 2016. Let this great game die with dignity if the goals are not met. Put some screenshots on a web archive, so the hard work of many can be viewed.

Please start talking to old vets. Convince them to reinstall and come play over the weekend, or something. See if you can broaden the playerbase in any way.

If anyone is confident in making a good post, put something up on Reddit's /r/Gaming. Post the link and we'll help give it attention. A game with lobbies supporting 200 people per room having a playerbase of 150 and slowly decreasing, I'm sure it'll catch the eye of some people.

Have a local hobby shop/game shop? Ask them if they'll let you put up this poster to promote the game. If they're reluctant, tell them there's no profit involved.

Please have the hi-res texture packs included in the installer, at least as an option. I reinstalled Alleg a couple of days ago and forgot how ugly it can be without hi-res. Every detail counts when retaining new players. If we already have the suit, might as well wear it.

It's being worked on, but there are some complications that are making it difficult to finalize.

Cashto working with Microsoft is by far the best bet for saving the game.

Graphics, marketing, stability issues, operating system issues and some game play issues to name a few why new players are tough to come by. These issues really need money to be moved forward. These issues take A lot more money then what can be expected of the tiny member base providing donations. Expecting development from folks in their free time to make a viable rock solid game is finicky at best. The game needs a company that wants to make money off this game to survive.

If MS would release the game and allow another company to pick the game up and allow that other company to make money on the game would be the golden ticket. A crowd source fund game development model company would be fantastic. A few recent examples of crowd source funded games that was mainly advertised on Steam became successful and made money : Wasteland2, Divinity: Original Sin.

Releasing the game and allowing to post on Steam might help..but doubtful would go very far without a company taking up the mantle and wanting to make money off the game. So getting MS to release the game and allow another company to take up the game to attempt to make a viable/profitable games seems the best future.

The best way to save Allegiance is to convince/sell the idea to a real company to gamble on developing/marketing this game.

I'm in agreement. Working with Microsoft to get this published on programs like Steam while we polish the game up is the best plan to ride on. It gets the game in the spotlight, and that's all it needs. The biggest thing Alleg has ever struggled with was getting attention, and this will solve that problem.

There's an old video with TotalBiscuit mentioning Alleg. He doesn't take requests on what to do videos on, but I'm going to try and get something out of this. We may be able to offer to pay him to do it (Taking out of our marketing budget). No promises from this, but it's another possibility.

So we are going to ask Microsoft to release the code so another company, still unknown, can have a go at making money on it... do I have it wrong?
Why would we want to change to a different site? How is this one so shifty we so move everything over... or do I have something wrong?
Active leadership is important and I'd say pkk has done things throughout his tenure... is he not responding or just not responding to the same requests?

I'm not trolling just confused is all

Lord knows I was never an administrator favorite. I have Dome's merit badge too, although he has.the two palm leafs as well, but well what exactly are you expecting pkk to do?

How about this as a to do list and frankly extra points for having a set. With reasons too

implement a new key binding for the installer. I know the ins and outs... just someone anyone make it happen without the useless discussions and broken dreams.
It appears to be doable just not in a form to make everyone happy with the tools in our toolbox. It will show progress and shut me up

Finish the implementation of the graphics package upgrade.
It isn't something I find to be a big deal but others feel, it will help retain platers. Seems doable with the tools (like factoid and backtrak... yes I meant the joke) available

Fix the $#@!ing horrific connection issues I regularly experienced and why I just cannot play
Im being selfish and honestly think the effort is beyond our toolboxery time to implement

Last time I saw the numbers playerror retention was a few percentage points for people playing a SECOND game. People download and leave without experiencing the support structure we have here. I'm sure the reasons vary but we need to find them and at least take a swing at the low hanging fruit
