Game begins:

Initial money into op/ref/tp/miner, start partialling bombers and light booster.

My ref goes 12, op to 4, TP plants at home. Initial scouting goes well. Their op goes 2, TP probably goes home. DareDevil immediately begins the carrier spam, pushing one carrier high, the other low, then up into my ref sector. Furious miner D ensues:

Luckily, bombers finish about then, and we begin bombing their carrier. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

My exp con is heading to 7 about now, we eye his home tac. Belter tac. Great. I sent the miners to 4 ahead of carrier, they mine there, then I send them back down through 12 to 7, to the new ref there. My bomber goes up through the middle, takes out the carrier, but the nan train can't keep up with the hunters across 7k of sector to their op.

They push a TP to 9, we bomb it, then the bomber rips low to bomb another carrier, and I send in an op, which unfortunately has its nans rip to D a miner and dies to a lowly stealth. /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doh:" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />

They'll have SBs up soon, as their Tac is advanced, so I take appropriate countermeasures:

SBs come up, and the first SB runs smack into a couple of SC towers.

I plant SC towers covering 2->3 and push a set of towers into 6, despite not having any op or TP there, but through some enchanted existence, they plant.

And now, the saga of saints101@CDT-A begins with an abortive attempt to SB my TP in 3.

They push a TP con to 11, where I'm already sticking some lovely SC towers. In the meantime, saints101@CDT-A tries again, and successfully this time.

This is bad, as I have miners in 3, and through some awesome nanning and D on my team's part, they all manage to get out of there safely. Another op to 6 dies though. /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doh:" border="0" alt="doh.gif" /> At this point, I start holding the cons, sending them solo isn't accomplishing anything. They push a carrier to 5. I send some ints in to bone it. Then we spot a miner in 6, and the IGUANAS which have just finished manage to slice and dice it. SBs still pop up on occasion, but manage to always run square into:

Not a bad trade. Bomber rips home after the TP, and I send my iguanas off to whore their miners while I secure our perimeter.

Right about this time, they send an expansion constructor to 10, Pedro forces it to rip (no cover at all, DD must be following my lead), and I send my bomber after their op in 2 again. Unfortunately, it's a 7k walk from either aleph, and the bomb run again can't keep up with the hunter3s flying about. During the bombrun, they send the exp again, with cover this time, and it plants.

I'm getting tired of copy and pasting all of the towers. Just assume I bought some every 3 minutes or so, you won't be far off.

07/20/06 231104: Terralthra@RT (We Got Iguanas!): never seen a cadet run into as many SC towers in one game


They SB my TP in 6. Even with the station hull/shield ups, it's still only 2 ABs, and that's just too weak. A bit of confusion and miscoordination follow, ending with a bomber piloted by Pedro, some nans packing extra countermeasures, and some interceptors for cover heading for their TP in 5. Somehow, I'm not sure how, they break through the mini3 omnifighter camp and blow the TP, then sit and camp on the aleph to their home waiting for more nans. Then DD reses the aleph. The bomber rips, but that's the end of that run. Bomber docks, then relaunches and heads high for their exp in 10. I push an op into 10 as they try to res and bomb my expansion (7) from 6, and then:

They start shedding players, and in the classiest move I've seen in a while, Augz drops from my team and comes back under a different nick to join yellow so the teams are even. I send our bomb run high again, and it hits their Tac with a satisfying "ouch."

The whole time I was reading this post I was waiting to read where DD whined about the stack after he lost. Good move holding it until the end to keep the reader interested.

Well, it was actually just before the end of the game....what amused me was the actual stack on the game. There's more chatlogs on the subject, but it's not really worth posting. Suffice it to say, teamwork and listening to the comm wins games.

He dropped the tag before returning from a CTD, which lead to the system considering him to be a different player (same trick that squaddies can use to get around bootage without needing a second callsign).

I've often dropped to NOAT without changing my callsign.

The game just goes crazy, and doesnt recognize me (I cjoin again, in base with a 10kb and zeroed stats - old stats never appear in endgame screen). ASGS would still recognize that I was there before though.
