We've heard it all before...

"Newbies join yellow!"
"No, join blue!"
"We have enough noobs on our team!"
"Stacked!"
"Join a newbie server!"
"This is a squad game only!"
"***New recruits have arrived!*** and the newbie's name just blinks... and blinks... and blinks... and continues to blink... while the veterans and experts get accepted..."

... and it actually goes downhill from there. Folks, if you want more people playing this game, you need to have a better attitude towards your newbies.

But they're right when they won't allow you to play in their squad games.

Yes, much of this sucks. All you can try to do is join the team with the least new players (lower ranked players) and try your damndest to learn the game quickly. Joining Cadet will help get you accepted.

It's very bad for the game if all the new players end up on one team. Obviously that team will be badly beaten and the new players have no fun (and then leave never to return). So whilst it's a pain to have to keep shuffling from team to team, it helps you to have a fun game.

Last point, Sunday evening/afternoon is when we play squad games. These are the best gameplay that Allegiance can offer because they feature groups of pilots that are used to playing together. These games are off limit to anyone not in the squads that are participating. If you want to play squad games then you need to do the Cadet course and see if a squad wants to recruit you.

I fully agree that the vets here need to have a better attitude towards newbies though. Stick with it and it'll get better is the best advice I can give you (and join Cadet).

OK I want you to undestand that I get your point and Im not a rookie hater

Some good rules of thumb
1. Always pay attention to the team ranks and NEVER get on the team with the lower rank
2. Sunday is squad day from approximately 3:00-7:00 PM EST ( join a squad )
3. Sometimes you cant get on to the team because the commander is trying to make the game more competitive
4. Sometimes the comm is being an @#$%@#
5. Find an @alleg, or hell almost anyone with a ^,+,? they can help intervene on your behalf or explain it
6. This is far from perfect advice but it will show the big dogs you got a clue and care it will definitely help your cause
7. Im now watching out for your ass so don't be one /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I don't want to sound like a prick and I realize that you are new but, some of us have been here for many years and we may only have time for a quick game or two. Many of us have had to deal with new players joining games and being of virtually zero use to anyone in a game. All of us old timers have had this experience hundreds possibly thousands of time. For us it gets a little old.

this game has the biggest learning curve of any game I have ever played, a newbie isn't going to just jump into a scout/fighter and be of any use to his team at all. I see it pretty much every day.

As Raveen said, for you to enjoy the game more and be of more use to your team join cadet, read the academy stuff and at least try to make yourselves somewhat usefull.

Have a quick in game question ask, look for someone tagged @Alleg, they are there to assist new players.

But more importantly learn the game by reading, joining cadet.

Ok ill bethe one to say it first, NEWBs u suck, u will suck for about a good month or two in that time please dont harrass commanders for a spot when he has an over abundance of newbs on his team, the staxx will eat you, there was a newbie server try there first, if u cant get there then come onto a vet server ask what team u should join, and have patience, dont think your the only newb ever to get denied from a team.

1. I h8 newbies i have more fun when the newb goes away- am i being un newbie friendly for sure.
2. Haveing a team full of newbs is no fun for any commander, no vets join newb stacked teams unless they are antistaxxzers or just want to play and dont give a crap about winnin.
3. why should the alleg vets suffer daily from newbs telling them to f off or suck there d___s
4.Quite frankly im tired of it,why do newbs get special treatment,, cause there new.so what
5.Bashing newbs and gettin banned for it is so utterly ridicules, beause usually the newb starts it first, yes we must be like children and fight back.

i have had it up to here vwith newbs who whine and bitch suck it up like the rest of us and just wait for your spot on a team ffs.

for newbs only

1.Ask nicely wich team u should join most vets will help you!
2. be respectful, dont go off on a commander cause u cant get on, look at these things instead, did u tell com u where comming aboard b4 spamming the entire team with player requesting position.see if hes not to busy to accept u first.
3.If the com doesnt accept you look at the teams and count how many 0-4's are playing for each team and go to the team with the least amount of 0-4's
4.if coms arent accepting newbs period, wich i highly doubt,,, see if theres some newbs on noat who are willing to go to the newbie server with you,as im sure that will make your game play more fun cause being targeted first above others for your kb is whats gonna happen.
5.if all else fails sit and wait be patient, games take some time to get started ,coms get busy in game, some have lobby muted,pm them ONCE, and ask to join,if he says no im allready have enuff then look at the newbs per side and do a quick assesment where u should be.if your in the right spot and they still wont let u on, go read the alleg academy dont watse your time bitchin about a com who wont let u on ,use time efficiently and get to know this game better. doesnt take long to change that 0

Now i have never been nice to newbs and im not about to change now, this game was built on being hardcore on our new players so they can have the grit to make it through, some of our best pilots have had the most hardcore training smackdowns u can imagin, stop being pussy's and whining on the boards and just play.

am i gonna get banned for this prolly, wich is more crap, people have a right to express how they feel, who gave u the right to ban anyone for an opinion,,,, sounds like a bunch of crap to me,,,, u buncha commies. LOL

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I understand there is a lot of emotion involved in this game. Sometimes, however, the only spot available is in your team. Joining "the other team" simply does not work because the other team already has more players, for example.
Newbs who become irritated and twiddle their thumbs waiting for their numbers to "go away" after so many days by going to play different games, are not better players. They may, in fact, like that different game and never come back. This is not good P.R.

First of all, welcome here

To sum up what has already been said

* Ignore the bastard veterans. They are just worried you will learn how to play and beat them.

* Commanders have the right to choose whom to let on their teams. Still, not accepting newbies is frowned upon. Find an @Alleg if you end up in this situation. They can usually sort it out. Commanders may have many reasons for not allowing you to join (including “We are just about to lose so why get more people on this team?”)

* Squad games are private affairs. They are only for the invited squads (and nobody else). In some cases @CDT pilots are allowed to join and watch the game, so they can learn a bit more, but not allowed to play.

PS.
ArcAngel, if you have something nice to say I suggest you fix the spelling so I can read it. If not, why don’t you just erase the post and save me from the hassle of ignoring you? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

All of the above is true. Unfortunately not every person who comes here will have the will power or attitude to survive here. It is the hardest game to learn. Period, no exceptions.

On one hand we supply a huge amount of resources for the new player to learn. This game DOES involve reading. A lot of reading. We have a system to train new players. We have people available to help new players in game.

But none of that will do a damn thing if the newbie doesn't read the chat nor want to try. I personally estimate 50% of the new players just want a FPS and nothing more. When they find out they must work as a team, well they quit playing.

The ones who discover the thrill of a teamwork oriented game and want to learn, they will stay. Unfortunately from a Vet's viewpoint, the above posts stated it well. There are days you just do not need 3-4 players (who no matter how hard you try to PM them in game) just ignore you. That does drive one nuts.

What drives me absolutely nuts is when I pm someone to tell them to read the Academy -crash course, they go where do I find it? When you installed the game an icon was put on your desktop, but is completely ignored /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I have often wondered what would happen if a new player was not allowed to sign into the game until they read the course, or at least the basics of the crash course. A simple 10 question test on communication. If they knew how to communicate, they would listen and be helped. You would be shocked on how many chat logs I review for enforcement purposes and see the PM's sent to a player. The PM's are sent to try to help, but are completely ignored.

2 cents worth.

And yes, more effort by the vets/comms to accept is needed. You just need to know both sides to understand the hesitation.

For those who are new and don't know who I am. I am one of several individuals who devote 20+ hours a week to improve this place. I run the Academy, the Cadet program and the @Allegs. That is not to toot my horn in any way, but to show that myself and a whole lot of other people work hard to improve this place. But we also recognize the issues seen by the vet.

I'm not saying that there aren't helpful people online. I've been helped by many a helpful veteran/expert, and I'm glad that they are there. I've also done my share of noobiness. It's just the "few bad apples", so to speak.
