*Dome@Z (Yellow) Iron Coalition Adv Exp, Adv Tac
v
^Liquid_Mamba@Elem/*Thallium@Elem (Blue) Omicron Hive Adv Exp, Adv Tac

Settings: High-Med

Map: Veil

-Zenith opened mid, planted tp at home, planted op next to Elements home, tried to rush miners in their home but failed
-Element opened low and planted op next to Zenith's home
-Zenith sent second tp to U rock high where it built
-Element got a tac and exp con out at the same time, planted tac high next to their home, and exp low with a tp
-Zenith pushed an op up high into Element's tac sector but planted it on a bad rock about 4.5k from Element's tac
-Miner-o/miner-d both sides. Zenith had more success at both
-Zenith got an op up mid next to its home
-Zenith got htts up and tried a full run on Element's tac but failed 10m from door
-Getting htts proved ineffective for a while as there were no obviously good approaches
-Element successfully bombed Zenith's op at its tac
-Zenith redoubled miner-o efforts and scored critical kills
-Zenith got a tac and mined to Sbs, set up four of them on Element's tac and successfully destroyed it with JUST the right amount of missiles before all sbs destroyed
-Zenith seismic'd the tac rock in Element's home
-Zenith pushed an op into Element's expansion sector low, and then another, but failed to destroy the expansion
-Element bombed both ops at its exp, rolled to Zenith tac (mid-high) and destroyed it too
-Zenith captured Element's Garrison from high
-Zenith built a new tac on the last SI rock in the map at their mid op sector
-Zenith pushed loads of cons into Element's Exp sector low and at last successfully bombed it

Great game!

So this took a while to piece together, then all night to upload to youtube. Here is the entire game in 1080P from my point of view, minus 2 minutes when Dome made an HTT run on our SUP. There is a moment when I launch a 37 KB int to bomb their op at our tac, then the video cuts out and I am PKing Weedman's 37... Needless to say I rammed and spiked dome's full team HTT run at the last minute with mini 1 :-).

Element VS Zenith

There are a few piloting tips I want to point out before everyone else does. Don't get stuck in a build sphere. Also, don't hit the geometry of the base when trying to pod KJ's scout when he is on the base. I think if I had podded him quicker that miner would have lived.

Anyway, enjoy and let me know what you think.

The fulled fraps videos were 247 GB - youtube condensed to 2.47GB

Only just - Elem were 3 mins from sbs when they lost the tac which they came close to defending.

The major thing I noticed Thall is you boosted away from your op to go shoot the lt ints that were shooting your miner. It would've been much better if you'd simply docked and launched a nan: IC mini1 isn't going to melt an OH miner and just a few nan shots will give your team enough time to defend.

I wish I had a good video of the way XEXY defends miners. Two END scouts got on our miners and suddenly we had 5 nans in the sector nanning them. It got so bad that Virulence actually had to order someone to dock and launch an int. Unsurprisingly, we didn't lose a single miner all game.

I know you're proud of your aim and ability to pod people, but TBH even Drizzo's first reaction to "defend miners" is to launch a nan, and he's way beyond you in an int.

Another thing I noticed that's small: the miner that was trying to line up on the op to dock. OH and TF have very strange lineup locations on their ops and you can usually just ram them in. There's no point flying around in circles trying to let the miner line up properly to the green door when you can just put your nose on him and shove him in. Saves you a few precious seconds... and these seconds add up.

Our squad has only a few int pilots.

Many of our people never leave scouts.

Thall, Vanca, AlphadaMediocre ( :iluv: ), Box, Kramcakes, yourself and Cashto. That's seven people who could very well launch a fig. Aero could as well. 8/12.

Xexy on the other hand has Brood, Drizzo, Vogue, Vir, and Babs who don't embarrass themselves in ints. That's 5/12. Toss in myself and Wild and you get 7/12.

My point isn't that Thall isn't good in a fig or that other members of your squad are just as good if not better than him, my point is that the first person on the miners in that situation *needs to be a nan* and boosting away from the ability to be a nan-on-the-scene is part of why that miner died. Compare to the situation that I likened it to: Drizzo, Vir, and Vogue all launched nans when our miner was under attack. I think Phalanxe ended up doing the interceptor mop-up dance.

If your people are never leaving scouts then you gotta train them to not do that. I think XEXY has maybe one or two pilots who don't leave scouts over the course of a game (Paps and Penfold), but there are times when even they will pull up an int. Paps, for example, was an int on the opening con... because that's where he needed to be and what he needed to be doing. I was an int on our opening con as well for the same reason but spent most of the rest of the game in a scout watching END's miners while Student (who, bless his heart, isn't as good as I am in an int) was faithfully charging into the meat-grinder of Belters miners on the green door.

As a great commander once said, "How hard is it to shoot things that aren't shooting you back?"
