heheheheh, troll adept you were just looking for another way to talk up edie and talk down SC. hehehe
why are ED players always coming on SC and talking about ED? i don't get that.
In fact you post on SC, don't you watch the streams?
Why is there even a comparison being made between two unfinished games.
i'm a dying old cripple now, but let me tell ya, if this unfinished hanger, my starfarer, connie, freelancer, assorted 300i's, avenger, hornet and pirate ship heh can't remember it's name hehehe, anyway,
if these unfinished bits of the game, modules, if these and the finished game keep up with their standard this is going to be a hell of a game. i don't need to guess or speculate which is going to be better, i hope they are both great.
i do wish they would divide up the forums into age groups so i wouldn't have to read so many juvenile whinny demands and temper tantrums by impatient young adults.
Having a forum for 60 year olds might be more laid back, well actually we wouldn't likely post anything untill the game is out.
i take up my ships now and then buy why bother flying them much until they are finished? It's pre alpha. they aren't ready. it's like looking through the oven window when the light is on, it's gonna change a lot
before the cooking is done.
Plus it's probably just me but the guy making ED just has a face that seemed a bit dodgy to me, know what i mean? i just seemed to trust what Chris was saying more.
Is anybody actually playing Star Citicen?
Actually Sunrodent, I'm a golden ticket holder, and I have an LTI 325a + a little extra in game credits waiting for me. That is peanuts compared to what you put in, but it's more than a triple A title's cost at launch.sunrodent wrote:QUOTE (sunrodent @ Sep 22 2014, 03:29 PM) heheheheh, troll adept you were just looking for another way to talk up edie and talk down SC. hehehe

I can't play AC at the moment, as the support for anything but mouse is terrible. When I can configure my CH HOTAS, I will give it another go.

CR is a masterful salesman. He has people throwing monwy at the screen. David Braben is a big old English nerd, but he is a genuine class act, and I'm surprised to see you question his integrity. They are RL friends btw, and David has had nothing but nice words to say about SC..
I was hoping to hear experiences and impressions from actually playing the arena or racing modules, but it sounds like you're mostly just admiring the ship assets for now. What do you use to play the game with?

The same 'steep learning curve' that plagued Allegiance.
To succeed, these games need an 'easy/casual/user friendly' mode to appeal to a wider audience or they'll end up as niche products for hardcore players who will mostly bully all new comers and scare them away.
They're simply too many games out there to play, people won't bother wasting their time on something too complex to learn or not fun. It's just common sens.
Great games are easy to learn and difficult to master. You must 'hook' the new player from the start, not hope he'll "survive" through a harsh period of time before enjoying the game.

I backed it during the Kickstarter, and am admittedly less excited now that it's becoming this massive $55 million project that tens of thousands of people are buying into. I wanted Freelancer 2, but now we're getting a full-fledged pay-to-win MMO with too many grandiose promises. I'm still exited and hopeful they'll make it all come together, but I feel like it's a massive, massive undertaking for a brand new studio that's never made a game together before. I also am afraid that they're going to make this giant, highly complex game with dozens of facets, and only those with 8 hours a day to devote to it will be able to truly enjoy it. Kind of like EVE or any MMO. I'll have MAYBE an hour or two a night to play, and I'm afraid I'll just be left behind. Too many people out there who makes these games their lives...
From the hour or so I gave Arena Commander, I didn't care for it. Needs a ton of work. It's fine -- it's a pre-alpha -- but I have no desire to waste time on it in its current form. I'll play the betas. I'm more interested in the single-player missions and the persistent world, anyway, so a deathmatch arena never appealed to me anyway.
I'm more interested in Elite, honestly. I think it'll be more what I was hoping Star Citizen was going to be.

Many backed thinking it will be a complicated space sim. A descendant of Wing Commander and Privateer, not Freelancer.
The devs have proved to have very little interest in HOTAS setups, and instead have implemented War Thunder arcade mode style mouse controls, exactly like Freelancer.
I suspect that CR wants to make the next WoW, so easy entry and casual friendly controls are key.

In another way you are also not winning though. A MMO like that is supposed to get people to play 10+ Hours a week, and the pay-to-win factor is off the scale.

Hedge your bets and get the Elite Mercenary Edition pre order. I did.

I think it's the most interesting project out there for Allegiance veterans.
