Announcement on the banning of Metz
If that was the case then you would be banned for physically threatening Viscur.Aviation21 wrote:QUOTE (Aviation21 @ Jul 2 2014, 11:48 AM) May I suggest that the RoC apply to mumble!
... and if not already done, state which team voice tool is recommended by Alleg community and that the RoC applies to everyone's conduct on said tool!

To end this mumble and RoC story...
Q: Why does the ROC apply on Mumble?
A: Mumble (mumble.rtsquad.org or also known as mumble.alleg.net) has become over the years more or less a official alternate communication path within the game. The wiki tells you to get on mumble, training program tells you to get on mumble, in-game people tell you to get on mumble, even Masta, the banned one himself, tells you to get on that specific mumble server.
Q: But mumble is not official owned by FreeAllegiance.org.
A: The same does apply on most of the game servers, but we enforce RoC/ToS there, too. The only difference between mumble and game servers is, that we (@Alleg) control access to these servers while they're connected to the lobby, on mumble we relay on the local server administrator. The server owner can shut down the server or ban anyone he wants and FAO has no influence on that.
Q: Is it easy to enforce?
A: No, that's why BV said years ago he gives a @#(! what happens on mumble, there are no logs like in in-game or forums.
Q: So do you say that breaking the RoC outside of FreeAllegiance (for example facebook) can result in a ban?
A: Yes, in some cases it can lead to an in-game/forum ban. Anyway, we (@Alleg) try to follow the RoC/ToS, but I'm (as representative of server owner) above RoC/ToS.

The Escapist (Justin Emerson) @ Dec 21 2010, 02:33 PM:
The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.

I'm glad to see that the policy has shifted to now "offiicially" include a ban for behavior on Mumble. Well done.pkk wrote:QUOTE (pkk @ Jul 4 2014, 04:32 AM) To end this mumble and RoC story...

It is my only regret from those days of yore that I listened to others rather than my gut in another Mumble incident as I knew even than the "it isn't part of official Allegiance" was a poor policy choice. If I had Our Man Dome wouldn't had to make this thread...

To add an RT voice to this (as the mumble server is ours)... RT were discussing banning Metz from the mumble server anyway (for many of the same reasons that Dome hit the perma-ban button), but decided not to out of respect to the alleg community & the fact that he was still a major personality here. With him banned from Allegiance I think we went ahead and did what many of us wanted anyway.pkk wrote:QUOTE (pkk @ Jul 4 2014, 09:32 AM) To end this mumble and RoC story...
