Update: TestUS2 online, hosted with a company that specializes in game servers. Should definitely be better than the Canada server was.

****

Finally got another game server up to test. This one is in Canada, just north of TestUS1, and temporarily named TestCAN. I expect those in Europe will probably have slightly higher pings but not enough to be noticeable. Mostly still testing servers as I would prefer the server to be through a more established company than TestUS1. The pricing of this particular provider is also better and they include anti-DDOS protection.

I have a second server in line for testing, but probably will only try it out if this first new server doesn't work out. The second is a bit low on RAM and worried there might be occasional spikes if it maxes out. It is in the same datacenter as TestUS1 though and should have nearly equivalent latency.

To encourage testing of the new server I have removed PCore from TestUS1. Seems to be working well so far, but if we run into any major issues I will immediately get PCore back on TestUS1.

Great! :)
Thanks AEM!

Neat, hopefully people will play on this. One of the reasons I don't bother logging in anymore is having to deal with useless euroserve in US primetime.

We've primarily played on testUS1 since it's been up since it provides green pings for virtually everybody - NAs and Euros alike.
This one shouldn't be too much different.

I didn't have the time to test it much but pings for Europeans are higher. Puts me @~150 ms compared to CSS(~130ms) and TestUS1(~110ms). What I didn't test is the server's consistency. TestUS1 has a nice ping but spikes do happen often (not often enough for it to be unplayable though but more than CSS, then again CSS crashes more. Its complicated :P ). We need to test it on Sunday. `yt AEM

We haven't been playing on mach3 (excluding a few dms) for at least 6 months...

Really shoudn't be 40ms higher over TestUS1, maybe just bad routing to the server for you.

*******

For the best possible server (at a reasonable cost), we really need our own Windows server license. These cost hundreds of dollars. If you are a currently enrolled college student and want to help send me a PM. College students can get free Windows server licenses for non commercial use through Microsoft Dreamspark http://www.dreamspark.com.

With our own license we could get a really nice server.

unfortunately most people have experienced a worse time than even mach.. i think the best so far we have found have either been planet and testus, testcan felt like match with packetloss included. im not european but , i played with a couple of them and we all moved to css lmao.. anyway.. at least dont delete testus we need it still

basically because most people have green on testUS more than mach3 really
now in testCAN most people have yellow (while i get some ugly red) and has more lagspikes than even mach3.
so far the best and most enjoyable server i've been in has been testUS and planet
the rest i think are closer to testus and very few closer to mach3.. but on ttestCAN it was bad for mostly everyone
