Everything dies. I could post 'Elzam is dying' right here right now, and it would turn out to be true too, eventually.

These threads have been around for years, the only reason this one is popular is because people see what they want to see in it, and there seem to be a lot of people who want to see Allegiance die.

Addicts also wish that their fix would seize existing so it no longer temps them back into the dreamland. :)

There's a difference between natural death due to age and everyone pointing out all of the cancerous tumors in Alleg and you guys refusing to fix them to maintain the same old feeling you had when the game was new.

Elzam: you are a couple years late to the "Alleg is dead" party. ;)

Turkey: no one wants to see Allegiance dead - you might want to take your own advice and see at things objectively: the only reason you deem Alleg not to be dead is because you want it not to be dead, and therefore everybody else must be just dumb haters and stuff.

It's easy spouting off what the problems are and saying everything is doomed, what is needed is actionable solutions. Got any of those?

For me I don't play as much because there aren't so many people I like playing with around anymore, it's a bit of a death spiral but you can't force people to come back to play the game. Y vs B seemed to be a success and if any squad games can get organised I would try to show up for them, I will try and make Allegwars 2014 as well.

One thing I would like back in is the players online thing, while it might be demoralising to see it at 0 or very small numbers I think it's more likely to generate greater numbers when people see that their friends are online playing, also it gives a reason to look at the front-page because I don't look at that anymore, just straight to the forum.

In order for any game to thrive, you need these things.

1. You need awareness (advertising, get people on the game)
2. You need a catch (keep people playing)
3. You need a goal (long term #2)

As a lowly member, I have no access to where you guys are on these situations, but here's what I've gathered. You don't advertise aggressively at all. Websites with gaming polls? Please. Any browser game is gonna beat Alleg out because they can offer ingame rewards (as many do) for votes. Are you putting anything out on media sharing websites? If I search "Free Allegiance" on youtube, the first result is titled, "Why Free Allegiance is losing players". The next few videos are 2 years old and older. "Allegiance game"? 1 year ago. "Allegiance RTS"? 1 year ago. You have literally no recent media on youtube. "But how is making youtube videos gonna help?" It's something. On Twitch, it seems dibb stopped making videos 5 months ago (WTG Dibbs for being the most recent media uploader) But guess what. even if you click the links, they're dead. People waste hours watching game playthroughs on Youtube all day. You're telling me you can't be $#!ed to put your own hat into the ring?

You don't have a catch. "But we do, it's the complexity of this team RTS". Okay, sure. You have that. But let me rephrase that in a way that'll put things in perspective. I'm looking for a job. I can either do this really hard job shoveling manure all day in dead silence or I can do the same job, but the shovel has my little pony stickers on it and someone sprayed febreeze on the manure and I can listen to music from my ipod while I work. Which job am I gonna take? You present this game in the sense that the hardness and character building are what make it fun. And I can accept that, but other people don't wanna waste a month learning a game just so they can play it properly. Heck, League of Legends has you play for months without knowing what you're doing but they can still pass it off as fun.

What about players that get the game, everything's downloaded, and as soon as they log in, they see that there's only 5 people online and 3 are AFK. Wait, didn't you add something laughable to the installer or first time login? "Play during these hours". You're broadcasting that the game has no one playing it before it even starts! "Btw, you're new, take this 6 month(?) class on how to play the game right". YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PLAY FOR MONTHS TO HAVE THE CONCEPT OF PLAYING THE GAME PROPERLY. What about newbie encouragement? Last I checked, anytime someone rank 5 or lower tried to command, you either A. Mutiny or B. All but FORCE THEM TO GIVE UP THE SEAT. *Slap on the wrist* Bad newbie. You're not allowed to command because you don't know how to command the way we play. All in the name of "keeping the game fun". You know what makes me play games that are too hard? The satisfaction of doing it correctly and showing the game who's in charge.

What's the overarching goal of Allegiance? These singular squadgames (Yellow vs Blue? lol?) are a nice attempt at encouraging play, but they only affect the people that know they're happening. This has been said many times before, but put some god$#@! achievements into the game. Who cares if they mean nothing. Who cares if some guy is gonna try to game the system to get achievements. It'll get people playing.

"You're not allowed to talk because you don't even play, Elzam". Oh well. Pretty soon no one will.

EDIT: Also, I'd like to add this. I can't make any REAL claim on this, but I doubt you've done anything to improve the game over time outside of balance. This is because, shocker, no one seems to know C so they can't program any new content? You're telling me you'll play for 10+ years, but you can't sit down for 1 year, learn C, and either A. Make a clone of this game so it can go on steam greenlight, etc. or B. at least add new content to the game?
