I particularly liked a movie called "Stake Land". It is about a vampire epidemic, but the final result (and creatures) resembles quite closely to any zombie movie.

You also get to see Top Gun´s hottie, with many many years thrown on top of her...

Net force was the most god awful of books (cant remember which i read), I cant believe they kept selling. His early stuff is really good but that series wasnt written by him. Kinda like Splinter Cell and stuff, they put his name on it and he gave input but the rest was some noob writer

In general the plot of anything zombie I have seen relies on the humans being stupider than the zombies.

This is valid. It seems to me in real life the zombies would be quickly handled. Sure, there'd be tons of loss of life, but how could a military force not prevail against a bunch of unarmed, brainless humans operating solely on instinct? Build a big wall, and patrol it with big guns.

In the book WWZ that is exactly what they do.

They require using 95% of their defense force to defend 5% of the population.

The reason why it can get through before they decide that is an initial slow onset.

Psh the book fails to give a reasonable way of how the zombie population gets so big in the first place.

In the book to become a zombie you need to get bitten or somehow infected with the zombie virus (through bodily fluid usually), then after being infected you have somewhere between 0-24 hours before becoming unconscious from the infection and then something like 8 hours after that of re-animating as a zombie.

It's ridiculously hard to spread an infection like that through a large populace to ever get millions of zombies or even thousands of zombies. Zombies don't bite and then move on, they bite and then eat so for zombie population to increase the zombie needs to bite and then infected person needs to not get eaten and run away and original zombie needs to survive to bite another person and the process needs to repeat. In a locked room of 10 people and 1 zombie the end result would be 1 very full zombie or 1 dead zombie and one half-eaten person to then be beaten to death by other people.

Given that zombies are only really threatening in huge numbers it's inconceivable for them to get huge numbers.

Even Tom Clancy books are pretty bad, he has some interesting ideas (and some could say called 9/11 way before it happened) but his writing is bad and his political choices which he tries to put through are even worse. It actually felt that the guy was really racist but tried to cover it up by having tokens around.

I'm currently slogging my way through Feed by Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire. I may abandon it halfway through, it is that bad. She knows how words and sentences work theoretically, but is incapable of joining them together in a way that is even basically entertaining. I bought it as something fluffy to read on the plane back in August, and ended up reading a two month old copy of the airline's magazine (three times) instead.

TBH World War Z wasn't really a very good book either. I can't recall if I made it all the way through. I was just getting invested in the japanese characters when the story switched to someplace else. I read ten pages about zombie hunting dogs and started to get into them, and then had to start all over again with the chinese nuclear sub.

Thinking about it, has there ever been a really entertaining zombie book or movie? Cell, by Stephen King maybe? At least the dude can write - just not screenplays. So if it is ever makes it to film, hopes aren't that high.

Salem's lot, the one with Rob Lowe
not zombies, but vampires are pretty similar in design and make for far more interesting stories because they keep their wits and dont have to rely on the humans being retards

"The Strain", by Guillermo del Toro (yeah, the director), is... well... interesting. He tries to give it some scientific focus to vampires, which really seem like creatures from Resident Evil. Nevertheless, it bored me reaching half the second book. I think he aimed for a TV series...
