The issue is with the comms knowledge of a particular person. Pre-assigned ranks permit the "I dont know" answer, and the other comm would give at least an indication (i.e. from what I have played Djole was easily higher than what his rank was (3-4 at the time iirc), while I would put him into mid range). But in any case, I agree that simply not limiting the rank exchange and a little bit of cooperation between comms will work just as well.

My 2 cents? ZG were fun and can be fun.

The "ranking", "trading" and "coloring system can be handy. If there are games of - say - 100 vs 100 players at a player base of several hundred players. When there are 15 vs 15 games, everyone knows everyone. Only the "die hard" gamers are left (give or take 39 or so).

I suggest just to fire up the games, and have a good time. Let's see who shows up and let the commanders command. Reduce the "red tape" and "clutter".

/edit: grammar, comma's and clarification

The ranking system at the minute is really inaccurate, for example I logged in the other day and there were people with a higher rank than me. Unless you go around and give every single player a new rank just to play a few games of this tournament which likely won't last long with the drama queens of alleg playing. Then you should just let the comms decide?

The system works for me :P
Still ready to teach anyone who asks nicely whatever they want to know about playing alleg. Contrary to popular opinion I do not eat newbies. Voobs taste much better.

It not better than nothing, it's worse than nothing.

Even the old and wildly inaccurate AllegAge used is vastly more accurate then the asinine ranks we have now.
