ALL,
I am calling on all of you to voice your opinions and support to our SENATE using the forums.
Today at 7:40 Pacific Standard Time I posted requesting that allegiance enforce it's already standing rule to disband squads that cannot field members for games.
I asked that the number for this determination be reduced to 7 ( in favor of our current community size).
I also asked that we initiate a new rule called squad caps. This would cap squad rosters at 20, to share the wealth and stop the top squads from growing bloated and sucking up all talent.
Disbanded squads/cut members from squads would be able to form new squads and keep us from our impending allegiance doom at least until my star citizen comes out :-).
Please voice your opinion and make our leaders follow through and enforce already established rules at the very least ( squads that cannot field 10 ).
Thank you for your time.

Meh.
I don't think inactive squads damage Allegiance in any real way.
Frankly IMO I think inactive squads are the least of Alleg's worries.
Edit :
To clarify, if a squad is pretty much inactive, I doubt disbanding it officially from Alleg.'s point of view will make any of those players who aren't playing already, come back to the game in any substantial way.
And the few active players in pretty much inactive squads are always free to move right now, so I can't see why they would automatically join another squad if the squad was disbanded.

I would be agreeable to this. However, I would see that this might also piss people off if they are not able to get into the squad they want to because of the cap.

If we have more of a squad balance, this number should be able to stay at 8 or more.

This would open it up to create a couple new squads or revitalize some of the older squads. GB / SPQR / etc...
Definitely worth having an open discussion. What kills a game is all of the good players flock to the squads who win the most and then those lesser squads loose interest in the game because they can hardly win, so why waste the time. Then it will only be a couple of sqauds left to play which they will loose interest because they play the same squad every week. If we evened out the squads, the game would become much more interesting again. We also need to tone down some of the ego's. That also gets annoying and makes people not want to play or fly for someone. I care a lot about this game. It is a really good game and for it to be around for over 10 years means something. Don't let it die.

The first senate voted on and passed the motion of taking squads with less than 10 players off the roster page. It never happened. Talk to pkk and backtrak about that one.
Now the issue is much greater; squads with the required number of players haven't been able to show the required 8 for squad games for a while now. (This is why we've had to team squads up for the last league and tourney.) Now even teaming up three squads together doesn't get them to show enough players. And RT and SF both folded in the last league.
The skill imbalance between squads is also very great and the only way around that one is people voluntarily deciding to go help lesser squads which won't happen because the lesser squads don't show people and are relatively bad at the game.
Face it guys, squads are nothing more than social clubs now. It would take something like the dissolution of all squads to change that, but honestly the majority of the community has shown they no longer want to play this game, they'd rather enjoy the forums and the social club aspect.
and on the whole, I agree with what notjarvis said. However, squads and the competition among squads are what made this game great in my eyes. There's just not enough players anymore to make squads viable.
