Although one does sit back and laugh that:

1) Drought = Global Warming
2) Flood = Global Warming

a) Mild winter = Global Warming
b) Harsh winter = Global Warming

i) No snow = Global Warming
ii) Much snow = Global Warming

Awfully convenient arguments!

Serious part:
I don't believe either side, and believe the truth is in the middle... just like everything on Earth.

Can we be better on the Earth? Yup.
Is the Fed gonna use climate change as an excuse to regulate and tax and make billions? Yup.

Should you ever believe your Fed government these days? Nope.

On a quasi related note, now that i'm a full-time officer instead of full-time corrections/part-time officer, I'm excited for some big storms...

I get to be out doing storm spotting and awesome @#(! like that. :D

Anybody going on about "look at the weather, this is climate change!" is indeed doing it wrong. Problem is we need to do some of it since 95% of the population will not do their research, and we do ned action to avoid the worst effects.

The Fed will just sit on their thumbs and avoid doing anything for as long as they can :glare:

The question is: Will technology be able to keep up with population growth. Cars and electricity are the norm now.

The Fed's actually doing a fair amount. Sure they could do more, but pretending like America's the main source of this crap when Beijing looks like this is ridiculous. The problem's not the US or Europe (though we're certainly not helping matters as much as we could be), it's the clearcutting of South American rainforests for farm land (they just burn everything) and developing nations turning on factories for the first time.

As we speak I'm sitting in an office building that has roughly one fifth of its (all flourescent) lights on during work hours.

Electric cars and nuclear power plants will solve the majority of the problems, and throwing up solar farms in deserts (you know, Nevada) as well as covering the roof of every building in, say, Los Angeles or Sacramento (Sacramento is the sunniest place on earth for the months of July and August by mean sunlight hours) would solve the rest.

One of the smartest ideas I've ever seen is covering parking lots with solar panals. 1) everyone gets shade to park in so their car isn't 150 degrees when they start to drive home and they don't get burned on their seatbelts, 2) electricity seems like a cool thing to generate. They did it at my old high school and should do it EVERYWHERE that's not in Washington.

Lots of good things there Phoenix, but let's not pretend US and EU aren't the fatties who most need to diet. Our CO2 emissions per capita are entirely on a different level to those of the Chinise or Indians. A large part of China's emissions are also due to us having moved our polluting manufacturing overseas.

I hope I'm wrong. If the US get's onboard the next climate treaty and starts working to be a part of the solution rather than problem, I will cheer quite loudly. I just fear your politicians are even more corrupted by industrial lobbyists and the mega rich than those here in Eurostan.

CO2 per capita doesn't mean much tbh. China's is low because they have a crap ton of people, but the majority of them aren't industrialized at all and won't have indoor plumbing in the next 100 years.

Plus China's is rising at a rapid rate while the US's is falling.
