People in my area (Western Washington) are all freaking out now due to watching too much TV.
Everyone's calling the police every time they see any object out of place.

THERE IS A CARDBOARD BOX OUTSIDE
IT'S A BOMB

cant really halfass something that has had this much media coverage already, and represents the "biggest" attack since 9/11. Plus its important to set a precedent that if terrorists $#@! with us there is no doubt they wont get away with it.

a lot of good it's done us. we're the only country that has used nuclear weapons, we have an infinite amount of money dumped into the military, and we're in a perpetual state of war on one thing or another.
Nobody has more credibility than the USA does when it comes to committing to war and man-hunts and @#(!, yet we're supposedly under constant attack, anyway.
the only thing we're accomplishing is losing our freedoms one after another. we are no safer due to the government's heavy hand. quite the contrary.

it's a combination of the crappy economy and the government's overbearingness that is pushing people over the edge, and causing death here at home
and our foreign policy that is causing tons of death overseas
not to mention whatever stunt's the government has pulled off in and of themselves to further an agenda

our government is to blame, whether indirectly or directly, for...everything

and we're to blame for letting it come to this, because we don't kill corrupt politicians like we should

it's time to clean house...and they know it's coming, and that's why there's this huge gun control effort.

Adept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ Apr 19 2013, 02:06 PM) That's what I've been thinking about as well. The financial cost of essentially shutting down Boston and unleashing this epic manhunt must be staggering. It seems like an overreaction
Perhaps you need context. Last night these two @#$%@#s killed a cop, car jacked a dude, then engaged in a firefight with police during which bombs were hucked at cops and multiple officers were injured. This isn't just a guy, he's a guy armed to the teeth and not afraid to use those weapons. Under the circumstances, I think a lock down makes sense. Also consider this sort of city wide shutdown happens about once a year or so during weather emergencies (severe blizzards or hurricanes).

Edit - by the way, no one who lives here is complaining about the lock down. The feeling here is mostly along the lines of, this is Boston. You $#@!ed with us, so $#@! you, we will shut this whole place down and find your ass no matter what the dollar cost!
