Meh, I would still prefer to play LoL to be honest. In my opinion its just filled with "Hardcore" gamers that boast their ego and their gamer rig e-peen ;)

Ok let me re-edit this one to be more open.

Dota 2 has a very steep learning curve with a lot of free open guides and complex mechanics to give your stroking arm a work out. Cosmetically it looks great, although the unbalance from making mistakes is a lot more punishing. One person can carry a whole team given the right circumstances. Players are unforgiving at certain points to where you just uninstall the game and remember why you chose to have a social life instead.

LoL has more of a soft approach and you can even practice against bot players with human teammates or in closed bots vs you+bots which really helps in the beginning up to a certain point. The community has begun decaying for a while due to the large number of people brought in so year there will be some aggression no doubt. Mechanics are easy to learn although matchmaking should be something to be fixed towards a better system (trolls) Graphics wise its not bad, but its nothing eye shocking. Still something you don't bring up on a date.

Bottom end, $#@! bitches get money and stay away from Eve Online

DOTA 2 has bots you can also play against, with your friends or others online or just solo so you can practice whatever, you can also set up the bot difficulty so make it piss easy ot extremely hard so you can get better at last hitting or whatever.

Edit: my pet peeve with DOTA is that you can not concede a game. you have to play to the end every single time. which is annoying, but its still a good game.

I've got maybe 600 games under my belt in LoL over the years, the community has gotten a 10x better now that they started actually enforcing behavior rules. Ill take a DOTA2 key if noone wants one, hope it isn't like battle for middle earth lol

Do they bring back lots of the older champions from DOTA Allstars?

SgtMajor wrote:QUOTE (SgtMajor @ Jan 17 2013, 10:50 PM) LoL is more newbie friendly, with more fast paced games, characters are bought with IP or RP (IP being something free while RP being something you can purchase) Some customization (RP based) and free. (Unless you want different get ups for your characters or maybe to purchase a character right away) whilst Dota (Quickly falling behind to the point where the beta keys given to people that received beta keys in some sort of word of mouth counter pyramid scheme) is slower, clunkier, with a rather nasty community. They switched from "All characters unlocked from the beginning" to the same standard of LoL of pay to unlock or farm your heart out (citation needed since I haven't played Dota2 in a while.) Also they regressed their former idea of Pay2Play, towards the LoL scheme of Free2Play with monetary cost (real world money) for customization items. Accordingly it shows how desperado the company has become since the annual growth of LoL seems to be increasing at an alarming rate.

Bottom end you can be a Dri--- I mean "hardcore" gamer or you can play a game to enjoy it.

Also holy @#(!balls the costs: http://www.dota2.com/store/#h=991457757
this is one of the most biased pieces of @#(! reviews i've ever seen

i've played both for more than a year, although admittedly i've played dota competitively and for much longer than LoL.

From what i've seen both have their own advantages disadvantages. My friends are avid LoL players and they've tried dota2 and felt like they couldn't keep up with how to play the game mainly because they went in playing it like LoL when the metagames and strategies are completely different. However after playing LoL I do have to say that being able to spam abilities is quite fun, also lots of AoE spells make farming pretty easy and fun and most importantly FAST. You can get items up to rape @#(! pretty quickly whereas in dota you have to work FAR harder at it simply because there aren't as many creeps per wave and creeps can be denied.

However, I find that this really allows for skill to come out and makes it easy to showcase who the better player is since they have tons of little things they can do at a high level to gain an advantage. Granted this is also present in LoL but not to the same degree which is my opinion.

Overall both games are pretty fun in their own ways, I'd agree that DotA2 is far more skill intensive and can be intimidating for noobs to the genre and a challenge for those who are already familiar to the MOBA genre.

My biggest grief with LoL is that you don't get all the heroes off the bat, unlike what the retard stated DotA2 has all heros unlocked from the get go. There are no runes that you need to buy and the only things you can buy are cosmetic skins, no in game advantages. You are basically on a playing level field with other players with only your skill and in game knowledge to gain you the advantage. When I first started playing LoL I partied with my friends who were lvl 30's with full rune books and @#(! and I ended up playing against other players who had a significant advantage over me, not a problem if I solo queue but I usually like to play with friends since games like these are social experiences. In the end I didn't mind it so much because just because someone is level 30 doesn't mean they can last hit or position correctly in fights so I could level the playing field somewhat using those transferable skills from DotA.

In conclusion: both games good in their own ways, LoL has a significantly higher following which is why I usually play it when I go to college so I can play with my friends, but DotA has a far higher skill ceiling from what I've seen. Anyways worth giving DotA a shot since the beta keys are free and plentiful by now. Not a pyramid scheme btw, although I did get a nice laugh out of that. After listening to Sgt. Major on a multitude of topics I can assure you his type of retardation is contained only to a few Americans and is not representative of the whole.

thx.
