yeah
imo given the current maps and the way they're designed there's just not much reason to try and do anything long-range, it's too easy to close the gap - particularly with the 2x armor values compared to BT standard - and force close-range engagements
running an XL engine on an assault brawler like that is very risky since it's easy to core if you get flanked and your RT/LT get targeted from behind since they have relatively little armor, but having 70kph top speed makes it even easier to maneuver into favorable positions, and i find i prefer that build to the 7x med laser lawesome build since it provides significantly higher damage

That's very interesting. Personally I just put in a smaller engine dropping the max speed to 40, and made up the difference in heatsinks and maxed armour. The durability is doubled? That explains why the weapons seem so badly nerfed!

Btw, I'm enjoying the game much more after updating my computer to a point where I can run the game with high settings with no slowdown.
Archer type founders catapult is my favorite so far. 2 x LRM 20, 2x med laser for close defence.

What's your callsign Agri? I can come online occasionally and back you up as a REMF Catapult jockey. I'm having low motivation though, since the bastards wipe out all my mods and achievements any time a patch happen
