How come Creationists (who, let's not forget, think that something can only possibly true if it is in line with their particular interpretation of their holy book) have started using "close minded" to describe the scientists and rationalists who actually bother to argue with them. That's right, the people who base their views on evidence and are willing to change their views if new evidence comes to light are the ones with closed minds.

Could we not claim this particular phrase back from the Creationists?
It's a common trick. You accuse others of what you are yourself (and often without admitting it even to yourself). People also assume everybody is like they are or at least no better, so scentists and rationalists have to actually be fundies with a different se of beliefs, and nothing more.

Who knew, people actually have reasons for not playing other than not wanting to?

I can't get people to understand the basic way of thinking that I don't have to disprove their idea, but they have to prove it. It's the greatest scheme against humanity of all time.

Curiosity is finding layered sedimentary rocks and unconformities of the sort that we find on earth. How are creationists reacting to this? Do you believe that mars was flooded by the deluge or some other mechanism?

From a science point of view it's dead interesting as it confirms that mars had a tectonic phase in it's past.

Nah man, it had to be natural. He was spending all that time burying dinosaur bones, and would have been too busy to mess with Mars.

Maybe Curiosity will find a dinosaur fossil that god accidentally misplaced on Mars on a Monday or something.

Here's something sort of related:

Todd Akin Claims Breastmilk Cures Homosexuality

QUOTE Spray the Gay Away

But the congressman really hit his stride when discussing homosexuality.

"This may surprise you Jeff, but I don't think homosexuality is a choice. We evangelicals, we know that it's a disease. But the good news is - we have the cure."

Akin then explained, "The National Institutes of Health has treated hundreds of young men through clinical trials at their headquarters in Maryland. They don't want the public to know because the secular liberal elites have succeeded in brainwashing the public into believing that homosexuality is a positive thing."

"We now know how to purge men of sin and put them on a path towards god. Why can't every gay man in America have that knowledge? Just 4 weeks of live breastfeeding can cure them of their terrible suffering. Why aren't we talking about this?"

Somewhat dumbfounded by the brazenness of Akin's pronouncement, the reporter then asked if this supposed treatment only worked on men.

"Lesbians can be cured by drinking something else," Akin replied "I'll leave that one to your imagination."

Claire McCaskill has issued a statement denouncing Akin's latest gaffe as "an outrageous and offensive pseudoscientific slander" and called on national Republicans to "respect the choice of Missourians" and allow Akin to continue his campaign.[/quote]
