wonder if this will be similar to WOT. where you earn points in battle, then use it to upgrade your engine or armour?
they said something about premium mech's? at any rate, it definitly looks good enough to try.

The MW series was amazingly alive (it might've just been my force feedback that made it that way though). These guys are getting hit with missiles (and firing them) but they're not even shaking.

Boo.

What's the point of playing if you don't FEEL like you're piloting a giant $#@!ing mech..

aww yeah.

If it works with force feedback then I'm all for it however :)
This may set your fears aside: http://www.pcgamer.com/previews/mechwarrior-online-preview/

Also apparently the devs have been using a logitech 940 stick (which does have force feedback). Though I haven't heard anything official about whether it is supported (given the attention to realism/immersion in everything else it may well be though).

I think I played Mechwarrior with either two sticks or a left hand stick and mouse (I can't remember anymore). Either way, I had walking control on the left hand stick, jump jets on it's trigger and sideways jump thrusters on the hat. Right hand for turning the torso, aiming and shooting the weapons. Talk about atmospheric

They specifically mentioned the importance of this stuff in the GDC interview so I suppose the video doesn't represent the game either because it's not even beta yet or because they disabled it for better visuals.

It's in closed beta now. All closed beta people had to sign a NDA so we shouldn't hear anything from them. Apparently they have stand at E3 right now and people are playing it there not under NDA so there might be some more details. That said I'm more interested in playing it than hearing more.

I'm kinda interested in doing a set-up with left hand stick and right hand mouse. With that in mind I set out looking for a modern stick similar to the force feedback sidewinders designed to be used with either hand. It seems the modern market for input peripherals is rather limited :/
This unfortunately has the stick and command buttons on the wrong sides for me + I'm not sure I really need another screen + it'll take up a lot of space when not in use and is bound to cost quite a bit.

I take that back, it seems the pad and the stick are swappable. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmYNpjE2JUw
Though my other points about where on my desk to put my keyboard / where to put it when not using it / the middle screen getting in the way of my actual screen still stand. Oh and the question about price I still suspect I'd need to find a hundred pound note or two blowing about on the street to get one of these...

BIER I SEE YOU!

Yeah still need a deep, tactically rich, non-twitch online game that doesn't require you to sink hundreds of hours into it.

Want bigger games? Log on to play at the official game time: 9pmET/8pmCT/7pmMT/6pmPT every day of the week. Also Saturdays 8pm UTC.
