And then there's the cc dev way of thinking. If any tech that can get through a camp is cheese, no freaking wonder you can't break a turtle. You call that a fundemental aspect of gameplay? I call it favoring defense over offense. Making it so that mk3 bombing tech will beat mk3 defensive tech is a perfectly valid way to balance a core. Why do you think XC games are so much shorter? Nan3 made bombing through anything less than the entire team possible.

Single side aelph res is only really useful for bomb runs. Better nans are far more useful for bombing than D. XRM is pointless EXCEPT for bombing.

Making tech that'll handle a camp can be done without affecting other gameplay. Heck, single side res would affect a camp, but not even reactionary defense.

Yes, games would be shorter. Yes, games would rarely become three hour rebounds. You know what? I could live with that. Instead of having the game completely die after a long one ends, you'd have people joining a second game. Instead of leaving a game in an hour, you could have a decent chance of finishing the first game and playing a second. Is that so bad?

CC dev way of thinking? What are you, chopped liver? :D

XC-level nan 3 which has far more repercussions than just bombing and you don't want powerful XRM which will simply eliminate any possibility of defense at a certain spam level (there is a reason it got nerfed, if a tad too much). Yes, you can use a res defensively with good effect.

So, if we implemented a one-sided res (which is really the only realistic solution I can think of) you are eliminating alephs as chokepoints THROUGHOUT the game. Think about this. There is no "sudden death mode" in the game that somehow detects turtling and overpowers a magical class of offensive weapons at the correct time. Since so much of the defensive game depends on camping, it'll likely mean whoever gets there first will roll over the other side.

So yeah, it's not that simple. Yes, it's a choice we can make but it'll change the game a lot and not simply towards making them shorter.

Want bigger games? Log on to play at the official game time: 9pmET/8pmCT/7pmMT/6pmPT every day of the week. Also Saturdays 8pm UTC.

Res 3 is moderately useful. Any lower level res is mostly useless.
