Gotta love our winter this year, eh?

And Norm was better than Stuart Smalley any day of the week. :P

EDIT: And I don't know what happened to my eye when I moved the photo from my old blackberry to the computer, but w/e. I still got to shake Norm's hand.

Voter ID is a blatant move to block poor voters from actually visiting the polls.

People making minimum wage working 2+ jobs just to stay afloat can't go visit the DMV for a state ID card because they're WORKING DURING DMV HOURS.

I've been salary doing white collar work for years and even *I* have trouble getting to the fricking DMV to get my license renewed every year. Even if you get there first thing in the morning on a weekday at one of the less populated ones in the Twin Cities you can still expect to wait two plus hours on a good day.

Try getting that time off UNPAID, TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE when you're working hourly for minimum wage and have to take the bus system everywhere, which could take you all day just by itself depending on where you're going from and to.

Simply put -- there are currently simple processes in place to verify that a voter is who they say they are, the election registrars at polling places just have to FOLLOW THEM.

After working as an election judge once it was very clear that the REAL problem wasn't the law regarding voter registration (which is very straightforward about proving residence), it was the lazy, gossipy, nosy little old ladies who cared more about trading dirt on the people who came in to vote than they did on the actual process.

This law will mostly serve to exclude legitimate voters. Those people interested in voter fraud have thousands of other ways to go about it.

Hey Bard,

Just a thought, but why isn't the Democratic Party picking these folks up and taking them to get their ID? They pick them up and provides rides to the polls. Just wondering.

Definitely agree on the elderly female poll workers.
