The fact the people who ate having their accounts settled are then going in to settle other peoples accounts with the little cash they have reminds me of a great film called, "Pay it Forward".

Maybe there is some hope for society and humanity left.

How does one open a Layaway account?

Is it too late to get a PS3 on one by Christmas?

It looks more like signing up for a gift registry (wedding style) with a store rather then walking out with a ps3 and 52" screen and hoping someone comes by to pay the bill.

I can't help but feel there is some tax loophole or skimming money from it especially as donors and recipients are kept apart and anonymous but hey I'm just a big grinch whose main task at the moment is stopping homeless people from trying to squat into an abandoned property.

I've checked with possibly the world's leading expert on credit based shopping HS.

People select stuff and the store puts it back for them, then when they've settled the bill they can pick their @#(! up.

A very nice story. My friend calls this kind of stuff Vigilante Charity.

The paying it forward was what struck my fancy.

Chin up cranky pants. Foreclosure is only the first step, sort of like impeachment and a POTUS ;)

edit: oops

Forgot Freebie

If you do it for both Sunday shows of Ethyl Peals to the Oldies Extravaganza you may go home broke 8D

I am confused.

If you pay up forward to buy an item, does the mega store not have much cash lying around for a while, until the goods are actually bought? Does that not include the risk those mega companies will "use" that money for e.g. getting interest at banks?

Suppose a Wall Mart has - say - 10,000 forpayers which each has 100 dollars for half a year, that makes some nice extra profit for "free".

Also I see on our Dutch TV extreamly rich people asking to pay more tax.

Weird....

Luckily, there are NO shows on the next two Sundays. :D

(But we're willing to do a little private one-on-one for special clients.)

Yup.. that's why these companies have lay-away plans. They're not as lucrative as gift cards, mind you (since they are obligated to hold the merchandise). But lay-away plans have been around for generations, whereas gift cards are a relatively new thing made possible by technology advances (ie being able to activate the card at the cash register).
