Interesting Zero. Interesting...
First thoughts...
Seems to become more a battle of attrition. Since you increased that, you should increase faction perks. Or nearly standardize mining.Coordination and teamwork would become even more complicated, and more rewarding. But I'm not sure if that'd be bad or good. Not quite sure why SRM EMP is separated from the Tac path. What about Shipyard?
Sup vs Exp vs Tac?
Something you should consider here is the fact that these old games allow for a relatively relaxed opening phase where you economy isn't pressured at all. In Alleg just as in any of the modern RTS games that isn't possible at all. If you decide to omni tech you will just be overwhelmed if the enemy team/player is on an equal level and decides to pressure your side.Zero_Falcon wrote:QUOTE (Zero_Falcon @ Aug 13 2011, 06:45 AM) Hmm... in most other RTS's (KKnD, C&C:RA2, Homeworld, to name a few...) you can often get the entire tech tree whereas in Allegiance we usually only use a fraction of the tree.
So people prefering to max out a single tech is not really a technical aspect but rather something that evolved as a solid standard in gameplay.
As for the rock-paper-Scissors thing. I don't believe its true since the key elements in any Alleg game are the human pilots. At least in a mirror match any tech can beat any tech and in the end it comes down to who has the better teamwork.
