Just looking at this discourse here:

It seems the computer and intellectual skills of many here are VERY far ahead of the avg Joe Joystick jockey. I programmed a bit (You now would call it scripting, sigh. Where is Clive Sinclair now.) I have an interest, and an IQ of 120+ some... And the maths made my eyes glaze over.

People with high IQ's can be impatient of others who don't learn as quickly. It simply does not compute, I understand it easily, kinda thing.

I suspect this reinforces the difficulties encountered in maintaining a "normal" player base. And this would go a long way in explaining the "great divide".

I am not privy to the whole development cycle, but it seems to me one would have to run the show like a corporation to render issues of this complexity tractable. And here of course the "political" element rears its' head.

Meanwhile I think I will go scout a little.

Its more:

There was a ginormous @#(! storm through out the proccess of changing from the old ranking system to the new one, especially when it was unvieled. Everyone and I do mean everyone got in on the talks. So when we had discussed it in about 12,993 different threads with me having a big old target on my back and others using words/phrases like "moron", "idiot", and "destroying the game" one loses there sense of humor on the subject one does.

Others are much smarter then me in the community if that was what you were implying. Just training, curiousity like a cat, check and double check things before implementing habit again from the job, and a great big tenacious streak kept me going... well Baker drove it home and TE hopped aboard at the end. Honestly it is really Baker's baby from stem to stern.

Btw if I came across anything other then respectful (this time) that was never my intention. Your seeing one of the great debates well after the sound and fury is over but the armed camps have set up shop. Spunk is articulate, polite, not around during the big naval battles of yester year

Perhaps I should simply have said: Maybe this is simply not a game for the average gamer of today, who gives up if the manual is more than 15 pages.

I remember the heyday of flight sims like yesterday. This game is roughly from the same era as European Air War, Pacific Air War and so on. I think it might simply appeal to a different kind of gamer. I miss those days too, sadly we only really got Internet in about 2007. I lost out on the early days of online flying, unfortunately. Von Beerhofen over at the EAW launchpad told me that for quite a few years it was him and 2 other gamers flying in the European time slot. And the EAW community, much smaller than this one, is divided even more deeply than this one. It destroys the game.

If you were talking to me, no, you were not disrespecting me at all. Military history teaches that often a popular general is not a good general in terms of results. But yes, leading is often a thankless business.

This community has, in fact, many strengths of which it does not seem to be that aware. If life has taught me anything, it is that you work to your strengths, not your weaknesses. You accept the present, you plan and execute for the future, and you value the past for what it was. Navel gazing is not good. What if-ing has it's place- until you execute the mission statement. We had a name for the Rhodesians in exile after it became Zimbabwe. The "When We's." That is what happens when there is no realistic, common, doable vision for the future

*ding*

I'm old enough and scarred enough to know when to STFU and pass the ammo, dig the slit trenches while we march forward day after day. However one can't help themselves to start day dreaming about the day when the Major say, " Anyone here checked out on the SL-8743 with counter rotational borestrokes?" I reply in my best he man voice, "the one with night scope and 2.12 thruster valves?" He replies, "Thats' the one. Good lad now come give it hell" while my band of brothers look at me with :iluv: eyes (the kind without squealing like a pig).

let's just say things didn't go quite as planned  . Wouldn't change it for the world, turned me into the heart breaker and life taker I am today.

Hey! Stop snickering!

Hi all,

Redirecting this thread a bit to the original post...

Why don't we focus on attracting players?

Why don't we focus on a positive mindset?

It's Allegiance's only hope if you ask me.

Bitching is for wussies, things can and will be implemented by our mates that have taken the task so lovingly all these years, taking time out of their school/working/gf/rl schedule to better the game...

It is just a matter of time that all improvements are implemented... (two weeks is our trademark)

And what can we, usual joes do? Call friends to the game, publicize it among are aquaitances in RL, FB or any other communication form.

And for $#@!ssake, get a + in your forehead, whining won't keep Alleg alive, moving will do, MOVE IT

Thanks for your time reading this...
