Dev Lead is pkk, this is fixed in R6 and to be fair it's similar to seeing He3 drop or uneyed build spheres, the more people who know about the exploit the less of an unfair advantage it is, there is no way to check if someone is using it.
Nothing to do but abuse it till R6 comes along like He3 drop and uneyed build spheres which will also be gone courtesy of Xynth I believe.
^ I sure hope un-eyed build spheres will be fixed, but if I remember right trying to remove them resulted in weird bugs, like stations appearing inside of asteroids and what-not?

Yes, Imago and I sat on that for quite a while and in the end it seemed to work, aside from some non-critical problems in allied games (thanks to allied vision).
After that was Drama™ and development & my testing on it stopped.
Still ready to teach anyone who asks nicely whatever they want to know about playing alleg. Contrary to popular opinion I do not eat newbies. Voobs taste much better.
You do have to manually check it though, and it's not like you're checking every second. I thought this little trick was fairly common knowledge, I believe Noir pointed it out to me when he changed the names of the drones, because a few people were playing with names like "Miner666", with the period it was much easier to find real drones.
Sharpus may obsessively check it, but then again he needs all the advantages he can get. I do it every so often, and definitely whenever we're scouring the map for miners to make sure the enemy still has one and we're not wasting our time.

IIRC I worked all that out in latest rev. was fun stuff, lots of hard work and many hours testing.

These bugs haven't been fixed yet because don't have any developers interested in fixing them up. --Tigereye
Imago's stupid-sensor is supersensitive. --RealPandemonium
The art is managing the flow of the drama to achieve the desired results. --Big_Beta_Tester

I decided to relive the days gone by in my new blog.
