Exaggeration my friend! I'm just saying if you guys had your mission statement (which you obviously had planned for a while) you should've followed through.Spunkmeyer wrote:QUOTE (Spunkmeyer @ Mar 5 2011, 05:30 PM) That's quite an achievement considering it went up a few days ago!
A hero is not one who never falls, but one who gets up again and again, NEVER losing sight of one's dream!

Setting up straw man arguments is not winning.NightRychune wrote:QUOTE (NightRychune @ Mar 5 2011, 05:09 PM) i'm pretty sure elzam just won
The sad part is he isn't even doing it on purpose.

You just made my list.. of people who read my mind.Spunkmeyer wrote:QUOTE (Spunkmeyer @ Mar 6 2011, 02:42 AM) Setting up straw man arguments is not winning.
I was going to link to the definition of straw-man argument earlier today, but I'm afraid this will just encourage people here to expand their repertoire of fallacies.
Ok, this is what you need for a capship nanvoobscout wrote:QUOTE (voobscout @ Mar 4 2011, 02:33 PM) I'd like to see cap ship nan brought as a working SY tech to GT.
Step 1: Go OH
Step 2: Buy starbase
Step 3: Buy adv nanite gun
Step 4: Buy Shipyard
Step 5: Load adv nanite gun as a turret on the capship
Step 6: Launch said ship and nan it
Im pretty sure OH's adv nan can be mountable on corvs... If not, they can at least be used on GS's for epic GS nannage!

I really really miss XRM. Well I actually don't care much for XRM specifically, but it's generally associated with TP2.
I mean it seems to me that people are going SY more than going for TP2.
EDIT:
The last time I flew a game that used XRM it was just Spidey killing my pod with aleph res.

Balance vs. Cheese, game theory and stuff:
Spunkmayer is right, that giving each faction one cheesy path would not be an improvement, because it would lead to one clear winning strategy for each faction, which means it would make the game easily predictable, +all that was said about game theory.
Elzam is right, that should all factions be the same and able to win by using the same strategies (although I am not saying I think that this is what CCdevs are trying to do), then there really is no point in having them (other than providing ships with different designs), and they might all as well be reduced to just one faction. What would be the point in having nine factions, if all of them would be - for example - about getting EXP, intwhore the *censoring symbols* out of the second team and then end the game with htts?
Of course, here comes the older-than-dirt problem of making the factions different but yet balanced.
One way to solve it wouldn't be giving each faction some cheese in just one techpath, but in every techpath. And preferably, different cheese than the other factions would have. Cheese that would even be used differently. Which would be extremly hard to do for each of the nine factions, as there is probably too many of them for that...
Personally, I'm just going to wait and see how CC evolves... And meanwhile, I'll be working on my 3FC ;-)
