A message syntax for commanders (#shout <message>?) that when sent, will display big bright text in the middle of the screen accompanied with an obnoxious sound that someone simply has no excuse to not acknowledge. Can be sent individually, to groups, or to the whole entire team.

Sample text:
"GALV $#@!ING MIDHI OR YOU'RE BOOTED"
"GET OUT OF AN INT AND NAN"
"IF YOU'RE NOT IN A FIG BOMBER, YOU'RE WRONG"
"PRESS INSERT"
etc

Sometimes bold text just doesn't cut it.

This seems like something that would be trivial to code, though I could be wrong

I'm personally against this idea, as it would be abused by commanders like me, who like to type a lot. It would just piss people off who are busy doing something else and not reading the chat and want to ignore the commanders big bold text.

Incidentally, I prefer to fly on yellow team than blue team as the text stands out from the background more.

If players are already not following what the commander is asking, being more obnoxious won't make them do what they already don't want to do.

We already have `yy ("Read the chat!")

Not every message would be like this. It would only do this if you typed something like: #shout NAN BOMBER HOME OR BOOT

It's easy to miss things if you've got tunnel vision, and having bright text just above or below your crosshairs with an unmistakable sound along with it is sure to get anyones attention.

Abuse shouldn't be an issue, if you're sick of a commander spamming it, mutiny, and if enough people are pissed off, they'll probably say yes. If you're abusing this to begin with you're only hurting yourself and your own team by distracting them needlessly.

I saw this used on a FPS game I played before, if someone was engaging in bad behavior, the moderator would send a big message that shows up right in your face when the initial standard chat messages didn't get their attention.

This probably would not be a huge deal, code wise. I haven't installed a dev environment on my new PC though, doing a bunch of coding at work so haven't had much interest in doing it in spare time.

R6 does have a change to make the large red text that you see when you get an order be a different color when you commander gives the order.

I don't think it is a terrible Idea. Talk it out, if you want it I will see about getting set up again.

This is actually not a bad idea. As a commander I have had plenty of  moments where some bright chap points out "hey, we should galv meesh". GUESS WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET YOU TO DO FOR THE PAST TEN MINUTES, EINSTEIN. Bold chat is clearly not enough. Bold, all-caps, angry spam chat is also not enough. The chat scrolls too much.

This is well recognized, and in the past we've had crazy proposals like being able to "flag" sectors on the minimap or have some sort of drop-down panel where commanders can twiddle commands for individuals and for wings. These have all been too complicated to manage. But a simple, single-line "standing orders" for the whole team could fill this communication gap nicely.

Extra points for being able to put standing orders on a timer: e.g. "#countdown 60 Bomb palain from thrale when bombers up.", "#countdown 5 Uncamp meesh".

If this could be combined with girlyboy's idea for a separate chat pane specifically for commander tasks, that would be incredibly useful. Even better if you can combine it with either the investment countdown timer "#countdown #Bomber bomb run from op" or somesuch.
