My internet doesn't work!

Im currently posting from another computer in the house that does have internet but for some reason my laptop is having trouble accessing the internet. The problem started recently and randomly, the error message I get is that the ip's don't link up but i've tried setting up the ip manually and trying to let it automatically acquire one but neither way works.

Computer is a VAIO
Processor: Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU T2330 @ 1.60GHz
Memory: 1 GB
System Type: 32 bit OS
Router: Belkin
Modem: Motorola

P.S. I know the helpline doesn't usually deal with problems like this but if there's a lull in the amount of issues and you have some freetime any help would be appreciated since i've tried just about everything lol

How's it connecting? Wireless? Cat5 cable?

Could just be a poor antenna on the laptop if it's wireless.

Does it work in other places? Friends house/somewhere with free wifi....
