So if you right-click a sector it brings up the chatbox with the sector you clicked on as the chat target. That sector remains the chat target until you tab away. I find this really annoying.
What I want to know is, does anybody use this feature? Would anybody complain if the chat target were changed only temporarily (ala left-clicking on somebodies ship)?

I have never had a use for chat-to-sector, and find it irritating to tab past.

Interesting idea...
I use chat to sector often, when ordering a pod pick-up, asking about probes/whatever out of base and of course, when coordinating an SB run.
I'm not sure about this idea, it might be nice as long as it was possible to toggle this. I'm not sure I won't find it more annoying if it changed back by itself.
BTW, I almost never right click to talk to a ship.
I think mousers do it more often than stick users... when I want to chat, it's a waste of time to switch from stick to mouse to keyboard. It's faster to forgo the mouse and type the recipient's callsign.

My old mouse was dying and had a terrible tendancy to righclick 2x or 3x after a single click so it was annoying sending an op to a sector then yelling at the team to defend the con only to realise you are just talking to the sector which only has 1 newbie flying in circles.
So yes please change it.

I use it in maybe one game in five. Usually when sending the "hold still..." voice chat to pods.TurkeyXIII wrote:QUOTE (TurkeyXIII @ Aug 17 2010, 08:30 AM) So if you right-click a sector it brings up the chatbox with the sector you clicked on as the chat target. <bp|> Maybe when I grow up I can be a troll like PsycH
<bp|> or an obsessive compulsive paladin of law like Adept
I find it useful for stealth htt or sb runs (especially if there's some noobs along who need a telling or 2)

It's a one line change. A two word change, even.fuzzylunkin1 wrote:QUOTE (fuzzylunkin1 @ Aug 18 2010, 12:59 AM) Not for R6.
I think it's relevant to R6 because Xynth's sector highlight (#208) kept making me accidentally select sector chat during today's test.
Edit: Made a ticket for it complete with patch. Change the milestone to R7 if necessary.
